Does anyone know of a good optical store in Doha where I can have optical lenses made and installed in eyeglass frames I already own for 100 QR - 150 QR?
sir good day i need to ask if there is available lense in a low price.. my lense was in the right is 950 and the left is 1200. how much i can get if buy including frame.. thank you
I checked around, and the cheapest place I've found so far is at one of the optical shops in City Center: 230 QR for regular CR-39 lenses for average strength (nothing special added other than the normal coatings). Some other shops quoted 280 QR for the same, and a few did quote 450 QR.
I will try Lulu or Doha Jadeed.
acchabaccha: Let me see if I can match your "low-cost" scenario: 1) Get an eye exam (with pupillary distance measurement for 30 QR. 2) If the optometrist refuses to give you the pupillary distance measurement without your commitment to purchase lenses, go online, figure out how to do it yourself, spend an hour taking many measurements to figure out the most accurate measurement, and then purchase lenses from a supplier in China for 30 USD inclusive of shipping to Qatar.
I have vetted one China source that I believe can provide the same quality that is sold here for 230 QR.
It si best to keep away from the malls because they will be expensive. Try Lulu or Doha Jadeed. The price of lenses varies depending on quality and the focal numbers required
There are many shops around Doha that deal in optical lenses and you can find some of them at Villaggio, Land Mark, LuLu and Naseem Al Rabeah Medical Center on C Ring Road. But the costs would be around QR 450 for just the lenses depending on the type of lens you need.
Having said that, you will soon see some posts from the two "philosophers" at QL who will advise you to borrow the glasses from your boss and return it to him after use and in this way you can save your money! They may also suggest you to wait "3" weeks to make sure you really need them.O)-
