By crawleyred •
hi,
1) as you maybe aware there will be around 800+ english football SUPPORTERS in Doha on 14th nov, how much are we looking at for a price of a beer ?
2) do you know any pubs/ bars where we can drink with the locals cheaper than in the rip off hotels ?
cheers
cheers guys, some good usefull info and a bit of bollox threw in for fun :)
the Englandfans Friday Brunch party at the marriot is the place to be £50 (280QAR) for 3-4 hr binge drinking session, drink as much beer and champagne as you like then enjoy a meal BARGAIN !!!!!!!!!! bring ur flags.
goodness! You can buy booze on arrival at the airport??? When did this happen and why wasn't I informed??? I've never seen it, booze that is in the arrival hall duty free (of course, the last time I came back was August so maybe things have changed??)
You can get your Alcohol from the Duty Free Shop here in Doha Airport upon your arrival.
ID or Passport will be required to enter a pub.
Ramada Hotel is a good one.
Since you are a Westeren you will have all respect by the authorities, it is welcoming country I am an Expat and Did not feel any problems, let the people talk as much as they want.
Cheers Mate
Plenty of Beer ....No fear. All the big and small supermarkets carry lots and lots and loads and loads of Beer. It is pretty cheap too as one of the guys in the loop said 1.50 to 2.50 tops 3.00
Moussy and Barbican are the favorites. The downside is that you can't drink too much of beer with upside being that you remain sober all the while...
All the Beer sold in Qatar and Saudi Arabia ... supermarkets and shops is NON ALCOHLIC....
Enjoy the Game...
A few answers here make me wonder if the people concerned even live in Doha! Locals don't drink? What effin planet you on dude? Some of the locals are probably the biggest pisscats - seen one puking his guts out at the Ramada a few months back - and it was NOT bad prawns. And know of a good few who wrote themselves off driving drunk.
And whoever posted the first answer - get a life moron!
hahaha well said Jack Frost...
I can guarantee you that none of the hotel bars will let in visiting non-residents on the night of the game. Visiting fans do yourself a favour and book into a hotel with a bar (suggest Ramada only good sports bar)
If you are not staying in a hotel with Bar (4* plus) then you will not be able to get a drink.
oh for god sake,, when he said locals he also ment expates.. for flock sake even a retarded child would know that
You can get into the Sherherazad at the Ramada Hotel by showing your entry stamp on your passport (means you have to carry your passport withyou). Beer is 28QAR per pint - not the cheapest but one of the least expensive venues in Doha.
The Rugby Club is cheaper but you have to be signed in by a member.
Locals are not "supposed" to even want to drink and now (instigated in just the past few months) no one in "national dress" = thobe is allowed entry into a bar.
You will not be able to buy alcohol of any kind at any of the sports venues.
hope that helps (I know it's going to hurt!)
it may cost u just.....1.50 riyal, n if u buy in salwa industrial area, it will cost u 2 riyal......enjoy have fun.....!!!!!!
Its not gonna be like going to a match back home mate, no pubs to go to before the match. Drinking is only allowed in your home, if you have a liqure licence and you will need ID to get into any of the hotel bars. Best you book into a wet hotel so you can have a couple before going :-)
Cheapest place to get tanked up is the Qube but it'll cost you 80 notes to get in. Oh, and by the way, don't forget to take along your passport as ID. Alternatively, befriend several members of the Rugby Club, buy them drinks all night and you'll still save money.......
just curious, why is it mandatory for these poms to drink beer to watch football?
Ok yes, I am sure the Qataris will be overjoyed to sit about drinking with the English football fans. For goodness sake, the locals do not go and sit in pubs (which is what this person was asking) and drink beer then go and watch football. It is one of the many reasons that I live here and not there.
I answered the question, the whole point of the question forum.
locals are not allow to go and drinkinside the bar ... so you cant drink with the locals in a bar.
Locals dont drink ???????????
you must be joking
go to the any "joint" bars late night,
I heard locals , change their dress to shirts & pants and drink
Drink with the locals? This is an Islamic country, the locals don't drink.
There are no longer any bars except the Rugby Club that are not attached to Hotels as far as I know. You have to show your ID card to get into lisenced premises here so not sure how it will work with a visitor visa.
It is definitely illegal not only to import alcohol but also consume alcohol in any public place and also be drunk in public.
Sorry if I sound unwelcoming, I really don't mean to, just not sure if you are going to be disapointed that this isn't what you expect.
Sorry, but as i know beer is not allowd to drink in Qatar..
Best palces to drink are either the Ramada or the Sheraton (Irish Harp)...prices are 36QR per pint, nowhere cheap to drink unfortanately....one of the drawbacks of this crap hole of a country....
