Shopping for family in Doha from the U.S.
Hello everyone. This is my first post on this forum but I've been reading QL for a couple of years now.
I have 3 teenage nieces in Doha and I was wondering about how to buy them gifts. I'm in the U.S. and I was hoping someone could point me to some online, reputable shopping sites. Are gift cards popular in Qatar?
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you!
They ended up in the States this Christmas but your advice will come in handy for their birthdays.

You can go online at I-tunes and gift them with credit. Then they go into I-tunes and use the credit to download their favorite songs. Every teen nowdays has an Ipod.
Your nieces would probably prefer something from the U.S. Maybe you give them gift cards to some online vendor, have the items shipped to your house, and then send them to Qatar?
You would, however, want to tell them to keep the packages within reason; you'll be bumming in a big way if they order something heavy!

Better you buy your presents over there and send them to Doha via DHL or another reliable courier service.
Just make sure you do not send any prohibited items into Doha, the courier service will be able to advise you on that.
call carrefour via phone. have a speak with duty manager or store manager. Discuss your options of purchasing one and price for posting it locally or something.
About gift cards....you musta guessed it.. Not very common in qatar.
Gift cards are no widely used here. You can have something shipped via UPS or DHL. Make sure you include their Qatari phone number so they can be notified when it arrives and pick it up from a local office.

I've never heard of gift cards being used here unless it is for online shopping such as Amazon.
