understand why the local price for bikegear is that much higher? is it due the the overhead of the business? or they are opportunists?

I wonder with the current condition where buying things online become more & more popular & easier, how the local business can survive its incredible markups?

Pitstop, can u tell me why your shop is closed?

I'm glad you commented, because that only shows how little you know.

I just cant help it. I need to comment on Pittstops response where he said- "you cant compare our prices to the US". My husband and I are from the US, and amazed at the sometimes 100% markups on ordinary items from the United States. This seems typical of the retailers mindset here. That their costs are less than the European markets prices. But as for me and the majority of the people that I know,(informed consumers)we find ourselves the best prices online, and have them shipped in, and still pay 50% to 100% less than the cost of goods here in Qatar. Or, as is often the case, I buy what I need when I visit the States. With global retailers so easily accessible via the internet, this mindset seems like a business model that is doomed to fail. Perhaps there are those that walk among us with money to burn and seeking instant gratification, but for the vast majority of this 80% expat population, I would bet that more competitive pricing would reap much greater rewards.

Cheers!

I think you should ask if you would be able to register an old model. -- Then I will give you a shipping number and you can contact him. They usually import the bikes for MotoGP and Superbike - so they are experienced with it. But the thing is that someone in Spain should pack the bike properly for the pick-up.

Thanks Pitstop. Its from the south of Spain from a town called Estepona, the nearest port is Algerciras in Cadiz province. The bike is a 12 year old Yamaha TDM 850.

Thanks

as the customer, it doesn't matter from us or uk. Our concern is quality & price. I went once to a gear shop & wanna buy roost deflector for my son for riding quad bike, they sell it at qr700+, while I can get the exactly the same itemin less than qr400 (including shipping cost). Then why should I spent more money for them?

Now, Im searching for a leather riding jacket (should be cowhide, not unidentified leather which may be frm pig skin) & fabric pant with ce approved guard & spine protector. In US market u can get it (im talking about a good brand) for about usd400 (maximum). Here maybe double. What dya think?

You cannot compare our prices to the US. Compare us to the European market and you will see the difference.

We are PIT STOP - which used to be by KFC and FFC at the airport.

alpinestar shop, qhobbies, old pitstop shop near ffc airport, suzuki teyseer airprt, dream team (for 2nd hand), mushiri yamaha, most of their price were almost double than if i buy online from US. Even some shop placed unpopular items just to get the lower budget customer. All except for the helmet where the shipping will cost you due to its weight.

I'm not sure where you have been shopping.

We represent Dainese, Suomy, NZI, Dunlop, and many many more .. And I can bet you my pricing is 30% lower than abroad.

gears here are incredibly expensive :-(.

As my experience, only helmet price is not that much different then if you buy it from abroad, mostly due to the freight cost. Mainly, I buy from motorcycle-superstore.com and send it here by aramex. It is much cheaper in that way and much more choice than buying locally
