Sunglass Hut overpricing

x-snipes
By x-snipes

I bought a sunglass from Sunglass Hut in Villaggio and after 5 minutes walking around, i found it 30% cheaper in another store.
When i approached the supervisor there he refused to give me refund and he was so rude in his answers.

Those people made money one time by cheating me, but they lost me and a lot of my friends as permanent customers.

I advise anyone who wants to buy from this store to double check prices in other stores.

I can provide more information by email if anyone is interested.

guys, thanks for all the comments and ideas.

actually, i called the consumer protection department (CPD)(toll free 8005000) 15 minutes after i bought and i made a complain and they gave me a reference number.

later they called and asked for a copy of my id and a copy of the receipt which i faxed the second day.

then they got back to me after 3 days saying that there is nothing i can do and the store is not obliged to return the item.

it is important to mention that CPD always publish in local newspapers announcements (i have the arabic copy) about the right of the customer for refund or exchange of items according to law number 8 in 2008.

Also it is very clear that the store is not allowed to put on the receipt “no refund or exchange” or anything similar.

I replied to CPD by saying that this store puts on all receipts exactly the following: “no refund! Exchange only within 2 days”, which contradicts very bluntly the CPD announcement and law.

Till now, I got no answer and I know this will lead nowhere but i want others to know so they will not get cheated by this store.

if you learn from your mistakes, you are smart;

if you learn from the mistakes of others, you are wise!

THANK YOU

basic rule of thumb is to at least check the price in 2-3 outlets before making a purchase.

People wake up, there is a new commercial law in place that states if a customer requests a refund on a product, the retailer MUST refund the price in full, if the customer provides proof of purchase. Should they not abide by this law they can be fined a very large amount.

Every retailer is obliged by law to display this policy at their cash counters. This gets checked by the ministry. The original is in Arabic, but there is a translation available. Report the said company, and demand your refund, as per Qatar Law.

Another interesting fact is that shops are by law not allowed to offer sweets, or peanuts if they dont have change. They must always benefit the customer. Again you can report them if they do, and they will be fined.

Check the MOI website (sorry I'm too lazy to search for it now :))

log a complain on their website,

clearly stating the date of purchase, model no, store location, the details of the rude behaviour and your contact details.

they dont have an exclusive website for MENA but you can go on their international site and log you complain,

www.sunglasshut.com

they take the complains very seriously.

you can also visit their facebook page and leave a post.

atleat the guy will be reprimanded and will not repeat with other coustomers.

See, that's why you check several stores before you buy.

wake up people, customer service does not exist here and never will. Quite apart from the fact that they are under no obligation to give you a refund, why should they?

They should give a refund. Thats what is customer service. But I have encountered the worst of service here in this part of the world unfortunately. Some people are very rude and never give you the correct information.

refund... Sorry, but thats what good customer service is all about.

Some shops back home have signs up that if you find an item you bought somewhere at a cheaper price, they will meet that price and give you another 10% discount...
