tips on buying a used SUV

I know cars can get a beating in the desert, with many 2nd hand models having clocked up A LOT of mileage...

Is there a place to take a car to for engine inspection, etc. before purchasing?

I am always for buying a new 4x4 and a 2nd hand Sedan.... for the obvious reason of abuse. Its not very easy for the mechanics to predict when replacement is due....

another minor thing ....buying from chain smokers... the A/c can be a minus point as these guys keep a part of their window open thus the A/c would have overworked by say 2 or 3times.

also...Anything over 100,000 Kms is not really worth buying!

Cars get a hammering here with the suspension components getting competely trashed. Nature of previous owners (lead foot) and the state of the roads do not help. In fact it is very difficult to find a second hand car in Doha with the steering wheel centered.

lincoln is rite unless the driver got stuck in the dunes and tries to race out of it.... then ofcourse the engine coils gets heated and bearing wears out.

to test a used car the best option would be German Test on Salwa road where you can find other test centers too.

it will cost you nearly 200 only.

Engines don't suffer much in the desert. But the suspension, drive train, and steering do.
