Wallet Theft at Lulu Hypermarket

My girlfriend had her wallet stolen out of her purse last week at Lulu Hypermarket. It appears that these people are working in teams. One woman distracts the shopper (wearing a full abaya totally unidentifiable), then her assistant walks over and takes your wallet out of your purse (in your shopping cart).

If you think this is an isolate incident, you are wrong. It happened to another woman yesterday while I was there shopping.

It appears it is happening a lot lately. Lulu has several wallets that have been returned after being stolen. I'm shocked that Lulu hasn't done more to let people know of the problem. Just beware and keep an eye on your purse.

The security cams are not of much use as the woman-thief was in a abaya....the cams wont be able to identify her.

Hi Skinnek,

Did you approach the security on duty or report this to authority? All supermarket and malls have a camera on top, I am sure, they caught it on screen.

In doin this, it will prevent from happening again.

Take care.

Last week when I was in Hyatt Plaza a lady left her shopping cart with her bag alone, this makes it easy for theives.

Lulu is not responsible for the theft of bags and wallets everyone who is carrying a bag/wallet/purse whatever is responsible to take care of this themselves.

Times are changing and we all have to be aware of this, so be alert and if you see something report it immediately but don't leave your cart or personal belongings in the cart alone.

We do tend to get lax about these things because the impression is that there's no crime here. You won't see any news stories warning people about these theft rings, reminding us to be aware, but the police are aware, and when they catch the perps, THAT'S when we see a big write-up in the paper, with all the authorities patting themselves and each other on the back.

I dont understand why anyone wud leave their wallet in a shoppig cart in the first place. Learn to be responsible first and then point fingers.

Makes you wonder what all of the security guards there actually do, if anything. Thanks for the heads up. I never leave my purse in the cart, but it is always good to be a little more aware of your surroundings.

Leaving a wallet or your handbag in the shopping cart is a silly things to do. I will never do that in a million years... not here, not in my home country, not in europe or any other part of the world ....

You would think that Lulu staff or police know about this ongoing problem and start having some kind of covert stake-out to catch the perpetrators.

Frm now onward i will keep my wallet inside my underwear... SAFE n SECURE ....!!!!
