By Florencia

Im not a pro, I dont know anything about cameras, I only want to take good quality pictures like tennis players, my children and the like. I would want a SONY because all our gadgets are so. I have a Sony Cybershot but Im not pleased with the outcome. I read about Digital SLR cameras but I dont know what model is good for me, because I dont want to have all those features which I will not use. Budget, QR 3000 Need your advise. Thanks!

agree with you. go for a canon.

if you go for a DSLR go for canon 350D. don't go for 400D. if you can have a big budget 20D or 40D would. it's good to go for a DSLR, you can start learning photography. you can't take a photo as you want with point and shoot camera as the camera takes as it wants. good luck!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much guys, I already took good pictures from my Cybershot (slim), but my problem is when my model moves, the outcome is horrible haha. And when its dawn or at night, its so dark and the image is really different. Ive read the manual and I cant do anything to adjust it. From your answers I think I'll go for Canon.

Florencia ...

To answer your question and reply to a few responses above:

1. If you don't need all the features of an SLR, don't buy one

2. I have a friend who takes great shots with a Sony ... in fact, I took some great shots with his Sony!

3. My best ever photo came from a camera that cost £12!!!

4. I agree with Cherukkan. The Salam staff are knoweldgeable and can probably help you decide.

5. As Per Abdul Salam, You only get out of your camera what you put into it.

6. As per Poolplan - read a book (and see 3 above).

7. If your are serious about photography look at the QL Photo group, we will help as best we can.

8. Casio are crap!

9. Plan for the future. What ever you end up buying, make sure it has some sort of "Manual" control. This will enable your skills to progress further without buying a new camera.

10. Talent and an eye for a picture more than make up for cheap equipment :o)

yes go for Canon! try looking at 400D or 450D models they're a good buy. mine's 400D and I'm so satisfied with the results but i still need to learn a lot more about photography

You need to go and buy a book on photography techniques before splashing cash. You are not going to note any drastic improvement in your pictures without improving your technique. You can take good pictures with a reasonably rubbish camera.

As my experience the photography is an art. The output will not get satisfactory only because of the camera cost or quality. Cannon, Olympus, Sony all are different models and performance. If you are looking for a DSLR better go for Canon or Nikon. Remember if you are not professional, it is more difficult to get a good quality picture from DSLR or an ordinary automatic Digital cam.

dr_dentist, u mean the zoomlens is not included when you buy a camera?

Go to Photography Department at Salam Plaza in West Bay and ask for Mr. Abdul Salam or Mr. Moidi. They will explain you which camera is good for you, either a Canon or a Nikon.
