the worst place ever I have lived in!difficult to get cabs, meet new people, lack of entertainment, narrow mindsets and overall a dull and boring environment.so glad to be back to dubai.
and different servants for different errands like cleaner, washer, laundry man, barber, cobbler, trash collector, beggar for left over food etc. just to name a few.
I love to make sav puri at home but we dont get to buy just puries...... And if we do get in Bombay Chaupaty, then its so costly tat its as equal to buying the whole sav puri from there !!!
I am civil engineer on father sponsorship valid upto dec 2012 i dont want 2 transfer tilll the date of expiry can any 1 help me out as most of the companies are asking 4 transfer.... :(
tinkerbell10...I terribly miss UP ki pakode wali kadhi (a preparation made of the balls from gram flour soaked and floating in a mix of same gram flour & sour youghurt) and "rajasthan wale" (name of the shop of my city) ke samose (a preparation made of potatoes wrapped with the fine wheat flour dough in traingullar shape and deep fried, served with garlic and green coriander and chilli mix)...:)
snoopdan has got some valid points. As far as I am concerned there is scarcity of Beaches where we can sit and spend weekends. No good parks also to spend time with family and ofcourse there are lots of home made food items which I used to eat for breakfast and with evenening tea in my country.
It is very hard to find qualified professionals in here. The reason is, they may have come here through agent who make fake certificates and shows the employee is qualified. Other way is, people bring their relatives who have no experiance in the job. So, I have faced lot of problems while dealing with people who are less qualified. If qatar government can implement a system to get qualified people, Qatar will be number one country in the world. Not all, most of employees.
thread and needles - ended up getting family to ship it in
size 15 shoes - actually found some adidas at City Center. Probably the last time that will ever happen
Anything large in size to fit us taller/larger americans. I literally can't shop at Villagio or City Center for clothes, I just gave up. Every store seems to cater to the smaller asian people, which makes sense because thats the main population here anyways. Just sucks for the US expaits, we like to shop too you know!
Decent used car. They either have 1.7 billion miles on them or they're ragged out, or the owner wants a crazy price for the crappy disposable car (like a honda city for example).
Activites to get to know other people/races. I can never find anything to do to meet new people. I thought moving to this city would allow me to meet new people of all races but I have just ended up meeting my co-workers which id rather not know in my personal life anyways.
From food to cosmetics there were and still are loads of stuff that I used back in Sri Lanka that I couldn't find in Qatar. Some of which I was truly addicted to,but I just got used to living without them. Guess you can't have em all!
Qatar's winter months are brimming with unmissable experiences, from the AFC Asian Cup 2023 to the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 and a variety of outdoor adventures and cultural delights.
