Wheat Gluten for Bread Machine!
After months of asking Mega Mart nicely (and getting repeated assurances) I wandered around LULU's one day and there it was, in the organic food aisle-Wheat Gluten!! I have looked for two years for this. Anyone who uses a bread machine knows that any whole grain needs it or the bread will be heavy and unpleasant if cooked in a bread machine. Even white bread needs it if you are using all purpose flour.
Mega Mart and Carrefour are the only places I have found good bread flour, and the prices vary widely. I had to get past the French language at Carrefour since their brand is only in French. The City Center Carrefour has the best variety (ok, often times it is the only Carrefour with the bread flours, and I have never seen anything but a grain blend flour at the Carrefour in Landmark and Villagio.)
MegaMart has a lot of different grains available and some of the other stores do too, but you have to be willing to look creatively and wander in aisles you might not normally think of (Asian). I love Doha for the variety of products, it is just that it is not alway consistent and often very pricey. I have brought gluten in from the states and the package was opened, checked and then dispersed throughout the rest of the bin that I had shipped. Do you KNOW what wheat gluten does when it gets wet? It isn't pretty.

It's frustrating sometimes to find breadmaking ingredients in Qatar.
This was the D-Ring Lulu store.
