Could anyone tell me where exactly could I get hold of some Agar-Agar and how to use it. Recently I've heard, its a good alternative for beef gelatine. Could it be used to thicken soups???
you can try,but i dont know how? b'coz it doesn't get thick when it's hot,it's a jelly, it get solid when gets cold, anyway you just have to boil it with water, water depends on how soft you like it when it gets cold, and dont forget to strain sometimes it doesn't melt properly, there's a hard bit left on it.
thanks sangeetha,vinagi,lovelyhon,Mrs Zia and alklt.
just to make it sure how is this thing cooked. yeah! corn flour could be used to thicken soup ...but i need to cut down on the starch value...so thought of trying it with Agar Agar. Any hopes???
