Homeschooling Network

Hello-

I am new here in Qatar and have 2 children, 7 and 5. We have visited a few school here but not very happy with choices and tuition fees.

I am thinking of homeschooling my kids and would appreciate for comments or any info regarding to this.

For example, where should I purchase books and material, American or British curriculum. Are there any homeschooling network or support group here so my kids can have social time with?

Thank you and look forward to hear from you.

shaheka143>>Home-schooling is a proven method of providing schooling. Lots of people do that in the west. Home-schooled students also follow the same curriculam what a regular school follows, and they also sit for the same exams. So they will not loose their 1/2 of their childhood by doing that. Even now, lots of universities have started reccongizing the home-schooled students. In fact, once I was working for a university of Canada, and our Registrar's 3 children were home-schooled students and he was very happy with that. Some people like the concept because they want to protect their children from bullies (sometime young angels can become monsters), some children are not simply capable of sitting in the classrom due to health reasons(one of my ex-collegue's son had a stroke when he was a baby, now he is a home-schooled student). My wife and I also like the concept of home schooling.

dont even think about home-schooling for children. They will be missing the 1/2 of their childhood if you dont send them to school. The best School I can recommend for your children will be American School of Doha. They have the best teachers in Qatar.
