Doha, Qatar – 28 October2015: Josoor Institute, a centre of excellence in sports and events industries, which is inspired and developed by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Omani organisation Injaz Development. The MoU sets the basis for long term cooperation between the two organisations, who will work together to develop new educational products for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The agreement was signed by Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the SC on behalf of Jossor Institute and Muhanned Al Asfoor, Founder and Chairman of Injaz Development, Oman. The signing of the MoU is expected to lead to closer collaboration between the two organisations and sharing of industry best practices and experience, aiming to support the training of the sports and events industries professionals in Qatar, Oman, other Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) countries and throughout the MENA region.

Commenting on the importance of the agreement, Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the SC said: “2022 FIFA World Cup is the first event of this scale in the Arab world and it is our chance to show the world that we are capable of organising an amazing tournament. The World Cup is not only for Qatar, but for the entire region and the cooperation between countries in the Middle East is essential for the successful delivery of this event. The signing of this MoU is a key milestone in this direction that opens new doors for regional knowledge sharing in the sports and events industries.”

Under the MoU, Injaz Development has been designated as an “Institutional Partner” for Josoor Institute. The MoU paves the way for cooperation in the fields of research and education. The two organisations will start working on several leadership coaching programmes and aim to develop academic content for Arabic publications dedicated to the sports and events management fields.

“The cooperation between Josoor Institute and Injaz contributes to the continuous growth and development in Oman, which has recently expanded its infrastructure to accommodate sport, business, tourism and other events on a regional and international level,” said Muhanned Al-Asfoor, Founder and Chairman of Injaz Development Oman.

“To succeed in planning, promoting and organizing such events, the Sultanate of Oman needs, in addition to its modern infrastructure and rich natural resources, to also develop local talents according to international standards. The partnership between Injaz as a leading Omani training and consultation organization and Josoor Institute as the leading sport and event management institute in the Arab region, with its international alliances, will help developing the needed talents.”

The parties also agreed to work collaboratively on certain key areas, such as opening new regional markets for both organisations and making their educational programmes more accessible for the people in the MENA region.

“Within the context of our efforts to boost cooperation with stakeholders from public and private sector, we signed this MoU that will allow us to work specially in the fields of research and education to help define the impact of sports and mega events in the Omani market and the MENA region,” said Mushtaq Al-Waeli, Executive Director (acting) of Josoor Institute.

“Josoor Institute plays an essential role in fulfilling the SC’s mission of hosting an amazing and historic World Cup in 2022 that will create a legacy in terms of human capital for Qatar, the Middle East and North Africa. Our partnership with Injaz Development, Oman comes with great benefits for the entire region and is expected to take us one step closer to achieving this mission,” added Al Waeli.

Injaz Development is an organisation with Omani roots specialised in providing training, development solutions and consulting services in the areas of human resources development and management in Oman and other GCC countries where they have successfully delivered more than 400 programs so far.

Josoor Institute’s previous workshops and programmes have attracted several delegates from Oman so far, including representatives from the Oman Football Association and Al Shabiba Oman.

Launched in December 2013, Josoor Institute has been training many of the people who will play an integral role in Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup™. Josoor Institute focuses on providing these individuals with the knowledge and skills to deliver large-scale sporting events, as well as non-sporting events, across the region long after 2022.
