Five killed in road crashes during Eid

Five residents were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents during the second and third days of Eid al-Fitr holiday which started on Sunday, sister Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.
On Tuesday early morning, three Filipina expatriates died and two others were injured, one of them seriously, while driving on the North Road in the Um Salal Mohamed area. Also on Tuesday, a 54-year old citizen was killed when his vehicle overturned.
On Monday, a Filipino expatriate died after he ran into a huge concrete block in the desert.
Traffic department sources said some 893 accidents were reported on the second and third days of Eid. Hamad Hospital’s emergency department received 20 persons injured in road accidents during the same period.
