Ako ay anak ng OFW. Bago pa man ako pinanganak nasa Saudi na si Tatay. Sabi nga ng Lola ko ang age gap naming 4 na magkakapatid ay katumbas ng bawat kontrata ni Tatay bilang OFW. Buti na lang nagpatali na si Nanay kundi para kaming hagdan sa dami ng baitang. Imagine mahigit tatlong dekada si Tatay sa Saudi, angdaming kontrata kaya nun. hehehe.

Maswerte tayo ngayon, may telephone, cellphone and internet. Wala ng dahilan ang mga tatay o nanay na hindi makausap ang pamilya.

Noong panahon nina Tatay at Nanay, walang email... ang meron lang snail mail. Naaalala ko pa noon, si Nanay araw araw sumusulat kay Tatay gamit ang yellow pad. magsusulat din cia sa isang papel para naman kopyahin namin sa aking gradepad o intermediate pad nina ate at kuya. Iniipon ni Nanay ang mga iyon at lingguhan ang padala sa post office. Lahat ng okasyon may picture, at bawat picture may caption sa likod. Nakasaad doon kung kaninong birthday, graduation, excursion at cyempre para ipakita kay Tatay ang bagong damit at sapatos pag Pasko. Ipapadala ito kasama ng mga post card. Ipinadadala rin ang hallmark greetings card dalawang bwan bago sumapit ang Pasko, anniversary nila at birthday ni Tatay para makasigurong matatanggap niya bago ang okasyon.

Noon walang chat, walang video call... ang meron lang voice tape. bwan bwan yata dapat may voice tape kami para kay Tatay. Paggising pa lang sa umaga, ire-record na ni Nanay ang mga ingay namin. ung pagsigaw nya habang ginigising kami, ung pag iyak ko, pag aaway namin ng kapatid ko, ung babati ka na sa casette recorder at magpapaalam na papasok sa school. naririnig ni Tatay ang mga ingay namin na parang nandun lang cia sa bahay. andun ang magsumbong ako sa recorder dahil inagawan ako ng hotdog, ung pagdating ng bahay kwento about school at pati na rin ang chismis sa kapitbahay.

Ganun katyaga si Nanay. Bilib talaga ako sa suporta nya kay Tatay.
