rice rice baby...

before our whole clan migrated, our family in ilocos used to be farmers... & i always thought this day would come... that our staple food would become almost like  a luxury item.  for a country who's having 14 million hectares of agricultural lands, having a "rice crisis" is nothing but a self-inflicted wound. inflicted by our nations agricultural policy builders who thought nothing but short-term importation rather than long-term agricultural development.

since the marcos administration, the policy is always on importing rather than producing our own. okay sana if we have the green bucks to pay for agricultural imports like most mid-east countries do.

the rice crisis signifies that the philippines agricultural industry is dying... sigh.
