20% increase in house rent

We are 5 families living in seperate houses in a compound in Doha. The realestate agent from whom we got the house has increased the rent to 20%. He is not the owner of the houses, but has made a contract with the Qatari owner and then split the house and given on rent to 5 families with seperate contract papers for all houses.He has been increasing 10% rent every year and renewing the contract every year and we have been paying like wise for the past 3 years.This year he has made the contract papaer for 20% increase and 1 year contract which none of us have signed.
CAN ANYONE ADVISE ON ANY FURTHER STEPS WE CAN TAKE AS IT IS NOT LEGAL FOR 20% RENT HIKE.

If you have a dispute with you landlord you go to the court and pay your rent and say you have a dispute then it goes through a process that way he can't kick you out. Their are more laws for the tenant than the landlord. They just always assume a foreignor won't know how to do this.
