I understand...well, at least you're seeing a doctor now...I haven't done that before though. I'm just relying on prayers and research and I believe understanding the illness of how it works and what triggers, somehow always helped me get through the day.

I hope all of us will find healing....God bless..

thanks neelia. im actually being treated now by a professional back in bahrain. i used to be based in bahrain and i just recently moved here in Qatar. i'm taking oral medications everyday to just to get over this. i only get to see my doctor everytime i travel back to bahrain for some business. good thing i can always squeeze in some of my time. i tried what you are advising, like try to find something that will keep me busy. i wish it is easy but in present situation, i even find it hard to concentrate on my work.

Hi EJ31681, I really appreciate you're taking time to post your problem just so you can ask advise from anyone. I am pretty sure this thread will have lots of responses from people who suffered the same disorder. I in particular, also is suffering from this illness. Until now, I have them, but the only thing that keeps my sanity was to treat this as nothing but illness. I little belief on oral medication...It may take a while to alleviate the problem but you have to always remember whenever you are in a situation where you start thinking negatively, reverse it, knock your head that is the illness that causing you think that way. Divert your attention, find something to get busy at. Anything you find interesting - engaged yourself to it and leave little room to think negatively. That's what I do when anxiety strikes. It is still in me, but I believe with what I'm doing, I was able to avoid broken relationship with friends and colleagues. We have to fight the thoughts coming from our illness. Also, as much as possible, we have to discipline ourselve to sleep at a proper time and good enough to avoid being stressed.

Above all else, don't panick you are not alone...if talking to someone with the same problem might help you..i'm just right here...

Well in the beginning I was refered to hospital and underwent lost of tests, mostly to do with my ears as mine started with dizzyness and then quickly progressed to panic attacks but they found nothing wrong!

It is very frustrating as I know there is something and its not "just in my mind". I have just had to live with it. I am only 32 and may never drive on a moterway back home again.

These conditions are very common in the middle east but no one likes to talk about them. Seek professional help from a pyschatrist or pyschologist.

Don't worry if people call you mad, they are probably suffers themselves.

well actually. anxiety and panic disorder was my psych findings and now, i also have hypertension. and i'm just 28 yrs old.

it started a few months back. i used to live with my family in bahrain. and since i have to fix a few things here in doha first, i am living alone. the first two months were ok but then came august. it all started. i panicked a lot and i am always afraid of everything and stuff. it's pretty much hard to explain but i guess we have the same feeling. i feel that everyone is lying to me, the world is closing in on me, everyone is cheating me and stuff.

you know, the problem is that most people think that these disorders are very easy to overcome. they will say "it's all in your brain" and stuff. well they are lucky that they aint got this coz this is really a hard thing for me.

I suffered from panic back home in the UK. I have not been able to drive on a moterway for 3 years now.

It just came on me one morning, I started to go dizzy and felt the world was closing in on me and like I was going to crash my car. My heart would race very fast and my hands would shake and sweat. Just the thought of going on a moterway would have the same effect!

I went to see a Hypnotist (forgive if spelt wrong) just before I came here in June to see if it would help. It didn't and I was petrified at the thought of driving here.

It took me around 2 months to drive and I took it really slowly. I think it was a bit better here cos there is plenty of places to pull up and catch my breath if I started to feel like the panic attack was going to come on again.
