Moving from the UK shortly and it appears West Bay area is good for English expats. Is it? Can anyone recommend good compound, high rise? Budget 17 - 20k QAR. Also when agent says completion is expected in June, how realistic is that? In UK, never. Help. Thanks.
It really would be worth coming out for a weekend and looking first hand at properties, they vary hugely and you can't get a feel for a nice compound without seeing it. Also then you will discover what has been built. Good luck
Where will you be working? My best advice is to live as close as possible to work. The traffic here is absolutely horrible. As for the Pearl, definitely not if you are coming soon. Well, really it isn't even an option as not one person lives there yet. It is not finished and severely behind schedule.
With a 6 year old I would suggest a compound so they will have friends close by, can ride a bike etc. check the classifieds section for availabilities and then do a search and you will see what others suggest. Good luck.
I personally wouldn't want to live on The Pearl.......yet. I work out there regularly and the place really is a building site. It's noisy, dusty (more so than the rest of Doha), there is construction traffic coming and going all the time. When it's finished however......I would definately consider it!
Whatever date you are given, forget it. I moved into a new compound at the beginning of Feb. I'd been to see it in Jan and was told the "gardens" ie raised flower beds would be finished next week and the swimming pool would be completed in 2 months. The "gardens" are still not finished......in fact, there has been no progress since Jan and construction hasn't started on the swimming pool yet.
I live in Panama and the pace of life is slow there but I think it's worse here.
Don't expect anything to be completed on time and you won't be disappointed!
