Arabic 101
Someone suggested me to study Arabic instead of asking if someone needs help for free. So I will start now. I hope I can finish it. Does anyone knows a good website that I can study for free? I will post everyday a sentence, please help me to correct if my construction is wrong. I found one site but confuse when will I use marhaba and assalam alaykum?
EDIT: You might find our business pages for languages useful in this regard.
chill guys... I didn't open this thread for a fight. so there is also accent for arabic? I know that their are different types of arabic. can anyone point me in the right website?
sorry vico, then my arabic native-speaking hub, along with all his family and his freinds, doesn't know how to speak arabic.
...Yes, in the official arabic, which almost noone uses, it is Anta, but in a casual daily conversation it is Inta (or Enta).. That's why I asked, what accent the author of the OP wants to learn..
On the other hand, aren't you an ukrainian, as your profile says?
Qatarsun,
Word - You "Anta" starting with letter A but not I, as in Arabic this word we are writing alif on the top with fat-hah and hamzah, so we are reading A but with a glottal stop. ;)
there is no "are" in arabic.
Also, depends on what accent you want to learn.
In my hub's accent:
You (single Male) = Inta (not Anta)
You (single Female) = Inti (not Anti)
He = hua
She = hia
osama said howa = is but in your translation howa = he? what is "are" in arabic?
Ana = I am / Me
Nahno = We
Anta = You (single Male)
Anti = You (single Female)
Antom = You (Plural: for more than 2 Males)
Antoma = You (Couple: when talking to only two persons)
Antona = You (Plural: for more than 2 Females)
Howa = He
Heya = She
Homa = They (for 2 persons only)
Hom = They (For more than 2 Males)
Hona = They (For more than 2 Females)
and this is Today's lesson
not instead. you may use both. they are both correct.
ah ok, thanks Osama. I need to know first what are the linking verbs in arabic so that I can join two arabic words.
yes CF perfect, or
"Alyom howa yaom al-ethnaen"
howa = is
Thank you RAM for the good explanation, so I should use assalam alaykum instead of marhaba since it's for welcoming people.
@ossama, in the link that you give me about weekdays, How can I say "Today is Monday"
"Alyom Yom Al-Ethnaen"?
Actually for saying Hello! you may use both of them without any confusion.
Marhaba: is coming from the word Marhab which literaly means "welcome" and that's why it's used in welcoming people. You may use it when u see someone and wanted to say hello "Marhaba"
assalam alaykum: Literally means Peace be upon you. It can be used when u see someone or when u r leaving someone, a meeting or a group of people. It's actually derived from Islam as they described Islam is the religion of Peace. and Islam is coming from the word SALAM which mean peace. Most probably Muslims are using this one however i heard many non-muslims as well using it. as peace has no religion. All religions on earth is appealing peace.
