Are people aware of the insane service charges on the Pearl development?

My husband and i bought an apartment on the Pearl after many discussions if we could afford it or not. The sales people assured us that we easily could. Now that it is coming close to the hand over date we have just been informed that we need to pay 150,000.00QAR service charges before we can move in. If we were aware of these charges we NEVER would have bought as this is an insane amount of money. The more we look into it the more we realize that nobody that bought were informed of the charges. What other carges did they not tell us about? I strongly suggest that every single person that has bought property there to find out about these charges. We need to stand toghether on this. If they get away with charging these insane charges now we are their puppets and they can do with us what they like. If this unexpected fees continue it will surely ruin many people financially. How can the Pearl developmnet be a success if this is how they operate?

But just take these charges as they are and pay them. By now your apartment probably is worth 400K QR more than when you bought it. So okay you pay 150K now but you are still in the black.

"the only reason we bought on the pearl is because there was no where else to buy in Qatar."

So why buy at all?? It's hardly a compelling reason.

Thank you for the honest feedback everyone. We bought the apartment 1 and a half year ago. Also, the only reason we bought on the pearl is because there was no where else to buy in Qatar. As we are here long term we thought it was a good move. Now you can buy in any area for much cheaper. If only we could've seen into the future. Oh well, to late now.

The Pearl will be a success when they have flogged off their apartments, ethically or not, to buyers. Their success has nothing to do with your success or failure.

By that standard, the project has been a success.

Thank God my cynism about investing in Qatar meant I didn't piss away a fortune at The Pearl.
