Could anyone offer advise perhaps, rumor is there is a blacklist between the GCC countries for expats who have outstanding debt in the UAE. Story goes that folks will detained and deported to the UAE. Have a friend who have been offered a job in Qatar, he is willing to take it to absolve the outstanding debt but fears he might be detained.

You can only have one guess - and I still reckon the guy must have some Lebanese ancestry or some close Lebanese friends.

Still banks dont want the borrower to earn one country and pay their debts

these banks want the borrowers to be stuck somewhere (in the jails)

the above is the reason why people ran away from Dubai

But nobody (even Central Banks) wanted to question these banks when they gave loans to everybody. I remember the min salay was AED 4000 to obtain car loans (nissan sunny). So the sellers and bankers targeted all low income group for their own benefit.

In Dubai, everything will be ok for your as far as everhthing is ok for the businesses and Banks.

but, things go wrong, when things are not ok for you.

think, who is to blame for these defaulters?!

Instead of playing guessing game, why not ask the nationality directly? :-)

So, your friend is running away from UAE without paying his debts. Will he be allowed to leave UAE in the first place?

i think the best thing for your friend is to contact the bank and settle things with them. yes there is a blacklist.
