be aware of cheaters in qatar
hi, two weeks back i met a guy in land mark, he stopped his car and asked me what language u can speak, i said english. he told me a story tht he is here in qatar from saudi and has no fuel to go back, so needs some money. i got him as i experienced such a case in dubai, so i excused him. after 2 days the same guy stopped me in another mall same fashion same story but i told him sorry again. he was in saudi no plate car.
this weekend was special, two guys knocked at my door and told me thy r from qatar charity waived a id card in front of me and asked fo some donation. i just went in and brought some money and gave to them (i was in sort of hurry to go somewhere so didnt pay much attention), he asked my name and gave me a slip.
at evening time i just saw tht slip, it was something written in arabic, atleast not qatar charity. the slip had no address, no tel no nothing.
so i got cheated:)
the only thing comon in both cases was tht they start with same question english or arabic...
so just be aware of these guys....i think some gang is on business
Next time you encounter another, take a photo with them, telling them that it's only for remembrance. They will surely back out.
good promotion of ur lease to won car:)
I have tel for Anti Begging Department in Qatar, if any body face the same case can call to this department so other people can be save from cheating tel: 44714220 (this i noted from Gulf Newspaper)
This is going on from ages. It happened to me thrice till date. Once it was a teenage kid. I really felt pity and helped him. Second time it was some arabic speaking guy in a nice car. I thought fishy so I just moved on. Third time some one walked to my car as I was putting groceries inside the car. He looked really desperate so I helped him.
I helped twice but then I came to know this is just fraud. These fraudsters are playing with peoples feelings.
Its better to help people who are more needy.
one family(wife & small kid) roaming in Family Food center and LULU airport with a green Land Cruiser. They said that they are from Oman and they had accident. tey are very much comfortable in speaking urdu/english.. please be aware of these ppls.
yes such shameless crooks! They deserve no sympathy really and are brilliant actors..no glycerin! My husband now enjoys scaring them off by simply demanding their identification in his rough "shurtha"inspired voice..lol. Like this one guy who came by our flat claiming to be from such and such charity..my husband straight off demanded his id and said he was also going to take his photo. The guy pretended then to move aside to make a phone call and sped off like the wind! Seriously he was one fast runner...an athlete for sure!
I am not religious, but I am sure if allah does exist, he/she is not basing their blessings on how much money you gave a stranger in a car park.
Nobody has ever asked me but then I look like a kid suffering from malnutrition, maybe they get scared that they may have to end up paying something :(
use your mobile
take a photo
go to the police
such fake charity requests will earn at least a few nights relaxing in Qatar at the Emir's pleasure
During Ramadan, I got two ladies on different occasions knocking on my flat. Both speaking Arabic, even I couldn't understand Arabic, I understood that they asked for money. I politely refused them.
One time in Villagio, one Omani family with 4x4 (I think a GMC) stopped in front of me, telling story that he got accident in Doha and now he got no money left. He asked me to give them some money. I was shock, not only with the incident but due to the fact that their car is bigger and better than mine.LOL!
let's play word association.....
