Books shipped from home

I need a bit of an advice here..

There are a few new books that are released back home in Egypt (in Arabic) that are a must read for me. If I sent for them to be bought and shipped over here through mail, would I face any problems with customs? Would there be any screening for the content?

Thanx

Hi Mister,

I would like to know how did you ship the books from Egypt? Which courrier did you use and what is the average cost?

I am Egyptian and need to do the same!

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hi Mister, I'm not yet in Qatar, so I can't check out what's available over there.

I'm trying to figure out what to stock up on and bring with me from UK.

Following my post, I sent for the books to be shipped from Egypt. It came in 2 days. Sealed. No inspection whatsoever. So I guess you'll be fine.

About the genres, pay a visit to Jarir Bookstore at Ramada signal and to Virgin Megastore at the Villaggio and you'd know what's available.

If I shipped over a box full of books from the UK as part of my relocation, would that cause any problems?

Would they inspect all the books and/or confiscate any? (I'm not intending to ship anything dodgy, but you never know what might be considered 'objectionable').

What sort of genres of books are available in bookshops in Doha?

Thank you.

but try getting your bootleg DVD's into Saudi without it!

I remember going into Oman in '95 with a box full of audio cassettes. The customs there wanted to keep them and listen to all 450 of them. I said go ahead, but I hope you like jazz!!!

I ordered a three books from amazon last month. They came to my P.O. Box without any problem. I do not have any wasta at all. I dont think there will be any problem as long as the quantity is reasonable.

I brought in a load of cargo from Saudi including dvds and books which passed customs without comment.

Going into Saudi and Kuwait, the dvds and books were scrutinized by vigilant Mutawa.

I fortunately had some wasta to get my discs out of customs, or I don't think i'd have seen half of them again...
