It really depends on your ambitions. Don't go for it if you have no idea about car mechanics and just want to drive every day. Go for it if you love "old" cars and are able to judge by yourself what needs to be done. - I always bought "old" cars in Qatar, for an apple and an egg. But I could always do most of the maintenance myself or "assist" the mechanic in the garage. My current car is a Wrangler TJ 1997 and I have no problems at all with it (after I've changed the universal joints of the front propeller because of some vibrations at higher speed). I wouldn't go for a new Wrangler at all. They are just bad copies of the iconic TJ!

It all depends whether it has been regularly serviced and repaired, what the condition is and ofcourse the price...
250k is a lot of mileage and things will have started to wear significantly.. So you could end up spending money to fix..
