Have a kindle, love love love it! I use it with a UAE credit card though, I've heard from some people that if you're using amazon with a Qatari card it can restrict what you can buy (sometimes my kindle tells me such and such a book is not available in my area, i just go on amazon and switch my area to the USA and all is good).
I have the one with the keyboard, and it's absolutely wonderful. You can share libraries with friends, the battery lasts forever, the wireless works really well and downloads are fast. The number of books is immense too, and they're cheaper than hardcopy books.
I'd recommend getting a cover for it too: it makes you feel like you're reading a 'real book'. Oh, and it's true: you can read for days and it won't hurt your eyes! it's not backlit and feels like real paper.
I have a Kindle Fire which I don't use, and an iPad with the Kindle App that I do use. Kindle fire is a waste of time anywhere except the USA. Kindle app works a treat on all platforms, and is excellent on the iPad. I have never tried any of the e-Ink Kindle's.
