Damn. I misread the title. i was going to say that condoms are not alloweed :O(
that is a thru fact,.but it runs op with the purity of the material
i.e. sink protects brass,steel and alu.
because its less "pure" there fore it will corode faster and protect above mentioned materials,.it needs to be bare flush mounted on the material to be proteced.
just look on any outboard engine and or boat propshaft and you will see sink anodes mounted

cracydutch, its not the purity of the anode that protects the material in question..its the higher electropositive nature of the anode that makes the material cathodic relatively in a corroding medium acting as an electrolyte.

the more pure material gets proteced by a less pure material,.. sink andodes on steel/ aluminium ships
