Cheated after buying a car
By sofiaferreira •
Hello! Last weekend I bought a car that was advertised in Qatar Living and after going to the official techinical service I have realised that the vendor lied to me. He said the car was under warranty and free of accidents. And today when I went to the official KIA they said that because of the car had an accident and was arranged by a non-official workshop, we don't have more warranty, and it is a car from 2015.
I understand that I cannot do anything regarding the accident, but can I take some legal actions if I demostrate that he published the car as "Under Warranty"?
Can somebody help me? I am so frustrated...
Thanks!
From your statement above it seems u bought this car before going for a technical check? Why didn't you go for the chech first before buying?
Well, a couple of months before, there was an article on QL that car warranty will not be void if any one wants to have maintenance done from any private workshop.
If they refuse warranty, you can file a case at consumer protection court.
On the other hand, if there was a major accident then you need to know that all those components which were repaired or replaced, will not be in warranty any more. E.g. if there was damaged to radiator and that private workshop has replaced it, then ofcourse any future defect in radiator will not be covered in warranty.
You can also take a print out of ad, and try to file a case in Police. Arabic speaker is must. No harm in trying your luck. At the same time lesson learned.
Thank you all.
Seems use car salesmen are similar all over the world. Will tell you what you want to hear, while they take your money. Always perform your due diligence, sorry you have learned the hard way.
let the buyer beware, next time do your homework.
No don't tells us, you may be prosecuted for "defamation" or some other type of cyber-crime.
And tell us the name of the cheater.
As per the media, if the car is under warranty and you have the warranty book, you can take it up with Kia and advise then that you will report to Consumer protection. Please check the news about warranties and companies providing service.
If he published and sold the car saying 'under warranty' , then you should file a case with the police
