I have seen different kinds of cooking oils here in Doha. Corn oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil to name a few. What are the differences? Which one is healthier?

..."Coconut oil is full of saturated fat. Normally this statement would scare anyone off from ever considering coconut oil to be a health food. The truth is, saturated fat has gotten a really bad reputation lately as being nothing but unhealthy for our bodies. While, this may be true of most saturated fats, coconut oil is different.

The fat in coconut oil has a unique property that actual causes it to have both antimicrobial and anticancer effects in the body. Coconut oil is also used to treat thyroid conditions and aid in weight loss. It is a mistake to assume that every type of saturated fat leads to heart disease. The difference between the saturated fat in coconut oil and the saturated fat in other types of food is that coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid while the rest are long chain fatty acids...."

There is shortage of Coconut oil and Sunflower oil in the market..

Coconut oil is a healthy one..no cholesterol problem so far anybody in the world...it was just a marketing idea to spread out romours about Coconut oil in order to market Palm oil in the market by the American mafia marketers...

Olive oil is best when used without heating- like MJ said in salads dressings and as dips. Once heated it looses it nutritional value. Mustard oil is very bad for people with cholestrol- it has about 60% monounsaturated fatty acids of which 42% erucic acid- main cause of cholestrol. So all those Bengali babus out there watch what u eat.

Try looking at this:

At home we use sunflower oil as the all-purpose stuff (but we don't fry anything in my house!), extra virgin olive oil for salad dressing, & olive oil for some sauteing.

Oilve oil is the best. Canola is also good its lil more expensive than the other cooking oils. Try to use minimum oil and live longer.
