Here the policy in qatar pharmacies u need to have a prescription for only the following medicin:

- antibiotics (topical & oral except the powder form),

- cortison (topical & oral except the hydrocortison 1%),

- drugs for ED like viagra&cialis ect..,

- drug that have dextromethorphan used for dry cough..

other than that u can dispense any thing else even prozac or any other psychiatric drugs...

Some pharmacies have their way to dispense some drugs without prescription they may have extra prescriptions for example.

I have already visited about 5 pharmacies in Doha for a skin ointment (Elocom), but all of them require doctor's prescription. I used to buy this ointment over the counter at pharmacies in UAE.

They say this ointment contains a small dose of steroid and hence prescription is required. So if you are looking for cortisone, then i am sure a prescription will be required (unless you have the so called 'vastha')

just one thign b4 u come here, try to stock up every now and then, especially b4 the end of the year, bcoz pharmacies stop bringing medications once they do inventory. and it can last even few months.

yes sweetie,  can find it. and if any pharmacy will make u problems with prescription, then get ur insurance med card that u will get from ur employer (if u r going to work for any bigger company), go to any clinic in Doha and say what's the deal. u will get the damn prescription for cortisone and most likely get it on the stop in clinic's pharmacy, free of charge (bcoz ur insurance will cover it).

The pharmacies here seem to have a different attidude. I remember asking one  pharmacy for someting, I dont remember what, but did said I needed a prescription. Then I went to my regular pharmacy and they gave it to me no problem. So I recommend you get a presciption from your doctor to be on the safe side, become a good customer at one pharmacy and you should be ok. If you give me a list of the drugs you need, I will call my oharmacy and ask them. You can pm me.

Better call them to find out if its available without precription. For safty, better carry atleast 2 to 3 months stock with you along with Doctors precription as a proof while travelling to Qatar.

It will take around 4 to 6 weeks to get your work visa and another 4 to 6 week to get your health card.

coz, irrysa this drug belongs to STEROID group which are not available so freely and not an OTC.

I 'm sure u know about the steroid drugs and its effect & aftereffects.

I think due to it's nature ... being steroid ..you may need the prescription of Doc.
