yamini: you can keep worrying and freaking out if that's your thing but the fact is if you stop and reverse, then 9 out of 10 times there will be no fines issued and the remaining one time would be a 500 rial fine if you were obviously going super fast or being over smart or if it looks like you were taking a big risk as opposed to a genuine mistake..forget about it and move on, nothing is going to happen...and i don't know why people ask for help and then never come back and update their post; they leave desperate pleas for help and advice when they're sh*tting their own pants and then take the info and never bother to pass on their experience for the next person; basic human nature i guess...i request you to stand out and update this thread in a week's time for the next person in your shoes; don't worry and have a good day :-)
It was a T junction and the camera was installated at main lane and i crossed the tail end of the T where camera was not there. So for me no fine as of now.
Could you let us know what finally happened? Because the same thing happened to me today morning in the corniche road and I am freaking out since then.
if at all the camera flashed, there will be either no fine or a maximum of 500, depending on how you crossed and then reversed; but most likely there will be no fine; they have video reviews these days of the violation before they issue the fine so if you stopped safely, they mostly let it go... don't worry, max is 500 and that's unlikely; and please remember to come back here and update the post with what happened; it can help others like you in future so don't just get our opinions and then disappear and leave behind a useless post where three of us have given you three slightly different answers; you have to come back and leave the correct answer for the next guy in this situation :-)
Please wait for a few days for a message on your mobile from the Traffic police. If you do not receive one, then hopefully you are safe. You can also check your status on the MoI website.
Yes that happened to me some years back. The fine is 6000QR but go to madinat Khalifa traffic office and appeal for camera evidence, they will then playback the traffic camera and if confirmed that YOU REVERSED BACK, you will be fined 300QR.
