Doha - Riyadh by Car
Hello My Dear QLers..
I am planning to travel to Riyadh by car as the air fares are really high. All those people who had travelled to Riyadh, please guide me on what are the different things that I should take care of.
I would be travelling alone; is this safe?
Also the car in which I would be travelling is in the name of my Dad, Kindly let me know if there would be any problem with that? Or should i have to get some clearance for this
Thanks
Best Way to avoid all this hasseles .....
Take A CAMEL ...... Safe & Secure
Has anyone travelled in this sector?
yes i am a male and my uncle in KSA is taking a business visa for me...
wot type of document is needed from the the owner of the vehicle (my dad).... will a normal letter stating I am his son wud do? or shud that document be attested by someone....
also pls tell me wot type of details are needed from the insurance company?
But if yer serious, you will need to get a visit visa from the Saudi embassy. This may be the hardest thing to get, if ya going cos of work, yer company should arrange it, if not, yer may find it very difficult to obtain. My company arranged mine and even they find it hard to obtain and renew.
Next you will need car insurance and i would prepare to witness the worst driving ever seen on highways...If yer think to yerself " he surely isnt gonna do that..." then yer can garauntee that they will do it....Tailgating at 150 kph 2 feet off yer bumper, they will overtake on the central reservation, they will undertake and they will fly up the outside lane and cut across all the lanes at the last minute to take the exit sliproad !! Basically they are Morons of the highest order...
Just thought i would warn ya....

If u are a local...as in From the GCC there is no problem travelling alone...
(i havent checked ur profile)
secondly u have to be travelling with a female, who has to be sister or spouse to get into saudi...and this u have to prove at the border.
firstly are you male ? If not forget traveling alone through Saudi (sorry - haven't checked your profile).
If the car is not in your name that can be a problem. I know that colleagues who travelled to Saudi whose cars were registered in the employers name had to have 'no objection' letters from their employers. There may be a similar requirement in your situation.
You should also check with the insurance company, in that they will cover you driving to Saudi. The border police may ask you for that evidence.
Basically you have to make sure every angle is covered - I've heard of people being turned back b'cos thier paper work didn't satisfy the Saudi border police.
