Does anyone suffer from 'frozen shoulder syndrome'? Do you know of a good doctor or physiotherapist specialising in this problem? Thank you for any help you can give.
I'm happy to say that I'm not diabetic, and although I've been a registered nurse for 33 years,I've never been on the receiving end of such a painful affliction before! Obviously, back home,I would have gone to my GP but haven't had reason to see one since being out here, hence my request for advice! And many thanks again to you all for you help an advice.
Though it can certainly result from injury or an arthritic condition frozen shoulder can also be caused by longer term elevated blood glucose (BG) levels and can be prevelent in diabetics.
I am not a medical professional but I am a child onset T-1 diabetic and suffered from both frozen shoulders and hips through most of my mid to late 30's. Long term normilalizaton of my BG was the resolution for my frozen shoulder problems.
Physical and massage therapy offered temporary relief but normalized BG was the key for me.
If you are a diabetic I would recommed working with your medical team to develop a BG normalization strategy including a nutrition and excercise plan which should help with frozen shoulder problems.
Brufen, deep heat, balm, pain relieving sprays all are nothing in this condition...even sometimes you are afraid of being touched by the arm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adhesive_capsulitis_of_shoulder
I would suppose bad sleeping position? It's either a pulled string or injured muscle? Or a blood vein problem. So it's really a massage thing who will do the trick!
Frozen shoulder is more than that flor1212 It’s a painful condition in which you are unable to move your arm above a certain height...it needs a professional physiotherapist, warm/cold massage, some exercises and lots of patience...
my husband has had it for quite some time and after two weeks of physio therapy and daily exercises at home he has improved a lot. Doctors are usually keen on steroid injections but try to avoid them. Recovery is slow , so dont expect miracles! Best of luck.
I sympathise with you, know how painful it is. After visiting 2 clinics and being mis-diagnosed, I ended up at Al Ahli emergency room. For the short term a voltaren injection & muscle relaxants helped. Physio or water aerobics will help relieve it.
Don't worry dear it's cure able...Thanks to the Govt. health centre, the doctor referred me to the physiotherapist at sadd...I had a few sessions on alternate days and the recovery was remarkable... in the mean while I had to travel but Alhamdulillah by the time it had recovered fully!

Then in my case it was definitely internal muscle injury as my BG is normal :)
