Groceries
Hello Everyone!
I'm new to the country and trying to get used to life here. I was wondering if anyone would help me out in the food department. I usually eat Healthy Life bread (those of you from America might be familiar with the brand). It's very low cal, high in fiber, no refined flour. Anything comparable here? I find that many bakery items don't even provide Nutrition Facts on the label. Also, where can I find decent produce without spending a fortune? Thanks a bunch!
LULU or MEGAMART
My advice is to buy a bread machine and make your own. It's a fairly simple process and you can ensure that you are getting exactly what you want.
There are machine around town in some shops. You can also pick them up at a British store like Amazon.co.uk and have it shipped (same electrics as Qatar that way).
Wow, that's pretty nice that you can get custom bread! I've seen a lot of bread labeled "multi grain" but I can't tell if it's "whole grain" or not. I'm a newbie when it comes to reading ingredient lists :o(
Thanks for the tip! Do you by any chance remember the name of the brand? Just so I can keep an eye out for it. (I've seen Fage Greek yogurt at MegaMart but it's so expen$ive!)
Its at the mall and has a variety of healthy breads and also has quite a few items from the UK.
or try the megamart at The Mall in Old Airport
As per the QF Nutritionist.. For Veggies FFC - Airport, for bread English bread & Salmon its Megamart. ((: You can place your order in megamart for customize bread too.
Megamart which does stock most things but is a rip-off, you may try LULU near landmark (not the one near airport), they have quite a few western foods and packaged breads, also Family Food Centre near Airport has some decent stuff in as well which i was surprised about.
forgot to mention -- if they are not sold out..
one thing you will learn that everything is sold out at one stage and no one knows when it will come back into a shelf. this can take form a few days to several months
carrefour has greek yoghurt its own frenchy kind of carrefour brand, not as good as real greek but not too bad
Check out Mega Mart either at Barwa Village or The Center behind Radisson Blu...
Fridays Minimart has UK foods ,they are mostly opened inside Compounds
Thank you for replying! I'll check out Lulu. And to anyone else who might be reading, would I be able to find Greek yogurt somewhere?
Try lulu supermarket. I know I didnt find it difficult to find UK things there.
