How can I get willingly deported?

Unfortunately I am serious. I have tried living here but my personal situation with my spouse has gone from bad to worse and I want to go home. He has all the money credit cards etc so me buying a ticket isnt an option. I am a US citizen. My visa is expiring next week so can I just contact the American embassy or what can I do? Will they lock me up or something really bad?

Astrangefruit is right, US embassy in Qatar does provide repatriation loan. But you've to pay it back within 60 days.

Hi Amal,

If you were to approach the US Embassy, I would suggest that you can simply tell them the truth. As a US citizen you are entitled to their full assistance regardless of the reason for finding yourself in this position. They deal with every type of domestic situation imaginable on a daily basis, and I don't think that you need to worry about them judging you or prying into your personal life. If you explain your situation as it is, they will be sensitive in how they deal with you.

Repatriation, is not 'deportation'. It is a financial transaction whereby they will provide you with a loan to purchase a ticket back home where you will simply walk off the plane as a paying passenger, the same as everyone else. Nothing bad will happen to you or your husband as a result other than you will have to repay the loan within an agreed timeframe. They will not be interested in the domestic issues which have led up to this situation and you will most certainly not be penalised in terms of being detained or locked up in any way.

In fact, if you were crazy enough, you could even travel back here in the future!!

NBg, with the way things go on here, you never know when they will decide to make an example of a person, and the dirty publicity that will go with it, plus jail on her record. I am still trying to picture option no 3 during the morning peak traffic.

Anyway I think she has found her solution here, but deportation is definitely not the way.

All the best Amal, if you have friends who know your situation presently, you can still request them to help u arrange for ur ticket before approaching the embassy.

How long have you been here on visit?

Don't worry it willll be fine.

wat r u talking about the options i have given will inevitably lead to her deportation she has american nationality so jail term wont be harsh on her may be a week or two but for sure she will be deported for all those action specially the sixth one coz it will be a sort of qatar spring

ohh thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate it. the flight is such that I did not arrive here first rather two other places, so there doesnt exist a way back without cost. I am not under his sponsorship either thankfully. I know they must be closed now but I am not sure what should I say is the reason I want to go back or if they will ask. Yes my passport is with me so no issue with that, and no I am not in any trouble, but in the US when you get deported they do lock you up so I didnt know what is the procedure. Again I deeply appreciate the advice here, me too I am sorry it comes to this but at least I feel I have options.

Hi Amal,

I have checked with the US Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/tips/emergencies/emergencies_1212.html

and they tell me that if you approach the US Embassy in Doha, they can arrange a repatriation loan, which will allow you to travel back to the US on a commercial flight.

If you want to verify this, you can either phone/visit the US Embassy 974 4496 6000 (I couldn't get them by phone this evening!), or phone the Bureau of Consular Affairs in US directly - 001 202 501 4444.

Sorry that you're in this difficult situation, but please realise that you are not trapped, and there are people who can help you.

PS - Reading between the lines, I think you may be able to arrange this without any officials impacting on your husband...

Hope things work out for you...

NBg, your ideas might just land her in jail here permanently without the option of deportation :-)

My dear Amal, if ur visa is expiring n u are on visit visa then what's the issue of traveling back? Are you on some sort of house arrest? What's your spouse nationality? Is your passport with you?

Why would anybody lock you up? What's exactly happening here?

Please cool down, calm down, and try to pretend to compromise and tell that u want to go back . Cleverly you can manage it . Fighting only will make things worse. Pl think and see if living here, without a job indoors, is creating the worst situation. Ask your siblings to send your tickets. If you have gold , sell and buy your ticket.Pl. ask your relative to call you back urgently so that .. he can send you . Or go to human rights centre, near Doha petrol pump.

oh and I did contact people back home but I dont know what the response will be, its a tough situation. I really dont want to get any local officials involved if I dont have to, I think that will just complicate it further. thanks again

thank you everyone, I am sorry to post but I feel like I had no options, no clue at all. He never sponsored me cause he changed jobs so I'm just on a visit visa.

contact the US Embassy at 4496 6000 and ask the operator to transfer you to the American Citizen Services. If you have any threats or you feel you are in danger, the Embassy would surely look in to the issue.

Best,

If he is abusive, secretly collect money from your friends & just leave at once without any warning.

1.get caught drunk driving

2.run butt naked in corniche

3.if u see any cop at the r/a just go to him and slap his face with all ur might

4.threat any local qatari person

5.try to rob a bank

6.wear a t-shirt that says "qatar sucks"

the 3rd one is my favourite.

I am sorry to hear of your predicament. Why is your visa expiring ? Are you not under your husband's sponsorship ?

I suppose the best option is to get friends to chip in for a ticket. If not , then go to the Embassy. One other option is the Qatar Foundation for Protecting Women and Children.

Good luck!
