Ifthar at public tents

i do have two kerala friends here who go for ifthar to public tents operated by a qatar organization,
which is funded by zakat and sadaqa contributions.

i told my friends we cannot consume this becase its not jaiz for us,as we don't fall in to the zakat recipient category.
can anyone please clarify this.

To my understanding, if the tents are operated with zakath funds, then the one attending the should be sure that he falls under the category, otherwise it is not right. If the tents are operated with sadaqa fund then no problem for any one.
