Is it a good offer ?

Dear all,
I need your help please :) , i got an offer from Habtoor leighton group for Planning Engineer position.
They are offering 10K (plus medical insurance) without any other allowances.
I have 2 years of experience, is it a good offer or i can have better ?
wsakr, why is that ? the annual raise should be mentioned in the contract
If you are planning to live with 2 other roommates and have no car or a garbage can car that will give you a hell of a time then you are welcomed in Qatar with this salary. By the way you have to consider that you will not get any salary raise for at least 3 to 4 years while prices is rising on regular basis
Kiwi, yes the savings almost 3x what I make now.
I'm going to read the labor law to understand more.
kiwi... you know Qatar... all the rules are only on paper... I know a big construction company, they will provide ticket - but the employee will buy it first. when the employee returned, they will reimburse it, in their own time.... and it's not a small company huh!
I agree. It depends what you are making now and your expectations for standard of living, that's what really counts. To some people 10,000 is a fortune, to others a pittance. If you are able to save 3 x what you can currently save, then it will probably be worthwhile. Just remember that rent is expensive, electricity, food, furniture, internet, car etc. all add up. I am sure that QLers will correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it illegal for employers not to provide a return ticket to an employee's home country every year? Good luck to you.
it's not good. Everything in Qatar is very expensive... and your company should at least give you a round trip ticket yearly...
I would say it is a good opportunity :) grab the offer :)

faraz .. yes, i'm a bachelor

I think you should go for It. but if u have family than its difficult to Live even hand & Mouth here in Qatar.
for a 2 years experienced engineer, this is a good offer. I would advise you to go for it. cheers mate.
They closed the door for any allowances, my hope to negotiate for a raise :)
if this offer includes accomodation & Tranportation then its fine other wise negotiate up to 12k at least...
I'll try, Thanks a lot guys
Negotiate to get flight tickets and transportation allowance from them.
you may be need to spend aroung 5-6k for single accomadation, food and phone internet bills balance you can save them for your future welcome to doha on your new assignment brother
specially there's no allowances at all (flat, transportation, flight tickets and even phone calls)
Thank you all for such quick responds.
I was little worried that i could negotiate for a better offer
Yes I agree with Doha expat00, for 2 years of experience it's a very good offer
