You had no problem before oil change and have problem after oil change.
Hope you used recommended oil.
You're welcome sademadeteen.and of course I will help if I can.I would recommend to you another excellent garage if you want. they can do the same job perfectly and even for less price.By the way I don't have a garage and I'm just a car owner like you.
for this great info .komodo...are you an auto expert ?? can you help me to get out this problem if Mr.Abdulla will not ??
This transmission oil is flamable when exposed to high tempratures,so you got to keep it in level not above it as it can over flow because of the high pressure. The proper oil for your car is AcDelco ATF4 which is costly while ATF/3 is doing the same job for less price.Regarding replacing the new filter,it is a waste of money, just use the same new one that you alredy replaced.and change your mechanic as well.by the way prepare a transportaion to get you back from Barwa as for sure Mr.Abdulla will tell you to leave the car and he will call you next day, that's the way he works.
has a problem
Komodo I called Mr. Abdullah & he told me to call tomorrow.
Actually I donnt have idea when last time it has change of oil as the previous owner is out of country now so I decided just to do all regular service like Transmission oil & filter change ,(yes he did filter change also) ,engine oil & filter change & some electrical work like replacing headlight bulbs, indicator etc no major issues everything was fine before that.
Anyway I stopped him to do the remaining work...eagerly waiting for tomorrow.
Does transmission oil just above max.level will make any problem ?
He is telling he will remove the oil & will put new oil with proper level & filter again to check !!
The Barwa village (American garage) contact person is Abdullah and his number is 5554778 not opening on Thursday evening or fridays.if the transmission is shifting with not enough power your problem could be the solenoid valve got stuck and no enough oil pressure going through to cause the second shift, this is how your transmission is working.check the oil level.and tell me please did you had the transmission oil filter changed at that time or not? you did not mention it! that also could cause a stuck valve.after how many Km did you change that oil? in your cherokee should be every 30.000Km! an old oil can make a lot of problems when replaced with a new one.and why your mechanic was test driving your car after a simple oil change, did you have a certain complain? many questions !! maybe, but I'm just trying to give you a clear answer.
@chulbuly-can you give me Barwa village workshop contact & is he working transmission problem.
@komodo-Actually transmission can shift from one to another but seems like there is no power in there the car is not moving with the gears !!! & I did not wash it with water pressure it happened just after 5-10 mins when on test drive by mechanic.
Thelonius-I checked the fuse also but in vain !!
Appereciate your info.Thanks in advance....
Dear Thelonius, you are right, but that will be in 2005 models and onward.beside this car is having a computer board called the module bus located behind the dashboard passenger's side when you open the bonnet, once it's gone it's gone and costs around 800 to 1000 qr for a second hand one.but it does not control this kind of transmission.
The 2000 till 2005 cherokees transmissions are reliables so do not worry my friend. You mentioned that your car is not shifting from one shift to the other.that means you still have as usual in this case only the first gear and the reverse.first do not drive your car for long distances and always keep the RPM lower than 2500.Did you had your car washed by high water pressure from down side after the gear oil change? if so get someone to check the 4 electrical power supply sockets connected to the sides of the transmission which will be full of water, had them air dryed and cleaned by a soft metal brush, connect them again and the transmission should work.If not aslo do the same get those sockets checked for a loose connection.By the way if the shifter cable is cut your gearbox will not be working at all and you'll not be able to move the gear stick to any position.AcDelco/Auto magic are good work shops at Matar main road or Bosch in Wakra. The one in Barwa village is good (The american garage) but he is not dealing with transmissions so ask him first.my advise to you when you visit any of these work shops try to be specific with them and tell them to check those sockets otherwise they will ask a huge amount of money as to rebuild the transmission(talking about 10000+QR) while a second hand one will cost you around 3 to 4000.but that will be in case of the worst scenario.Good luck my friend.
you can contact a workshop which is in barwa village rear corner
he is famous and knows all about jeep
Either your transmission shifter cable snapped or your transmission is gone. If your mechanic couldn't repair it, send to one of the workshop in Industrial area which specializes in transmission. Good luck!
