LASIK laser eye surgery in Qatar??
Hi QL’ers,
I’m shortsighted and been wearing glasses for a few years now and getting tired of them (the humidity is making it worse!)
Have any of you had laser eye surgery here? What’s the best place and where can I get it down for a good price? My insurance does not cover optical unfortunately
Good day,
EDIT: The following links could be useful.
QL2303: You are not the only one who wears glasses in Doha. There hundreds of thousands who do including me. I have been wearing one for over two decades now. The problem of the glasses misting is common to everyone who wears glasses. This problem appears for just two months in a year in Qatar. It just takes a maximum of 10 seconds to wipe of the mist off, that's all.
Thinking of going in for surgery to correct your problem of being shortsighted is something which only a minuscule of the world population ever think of. Possibly, they could be placed in the bracket of those people who have a lot of money and do not know what to do with it. I have noticed from pictures that even Bill Gates wears glasses. I hold the view, "Why play with something that is natural when there is no need to?"
Now coming to laser eye surgery commonly known as LASIK surgery, I am sure some private hospital in Doha do have facilities to carry them out. Try calling Al Ahli Hospital and the receptionist could give you an idea of the costs involved.
Couple of years back a friend wanted to have cataract surgery done on one of his eyes. The cost given to him by the Al Ahli Hospital people was around QR 13000. He flew home and got the surgery done in just QR 1500 at one of the best Eye Hospitals in his city.
Suggest, you also Google to learn more about LASIK surgery. You may get to learn more about his this type of surgery.
