Leaving Qatar

I've seen a lot of information on moving to and living in Qatar but very little in the way of useful information on moving out of Qatar.

For example, is there an easy way to terminate electricity without having to wait hours to talk to an agent in hopes there is someone available to come take a meter reading?

Early termination of a lease contract?

I look forward to any feedback.

grw,

Congratulations as you have reached your liberation day – the dream of ever expat here!

As for "the richest country in the world with no internet or phone-in capabilities", didn't you get, while you were here?! A Bedouin based society with an extreme sudden influx of cash - what can you expect in a few decades?

As for leaving procedures, prepare yourself for some difficulties, similar to those when you arrived. I would give my self at least a 2 month period to complete demobilization (cable, elect, water and phone bills, rental contract, car, insurance, moving company, airline tickets and bank).

Try to do all this a few weeks before departure, move to a serviced apartment or similar, to give time for the retained deposits to be returned to you before you leave.

All the best in your new destination (hopefully a better place)!

Thanks for the quick advice! I'm not sure that will work for me as I live in a villa complex and not turning over my villa to someone else other than the manager/landlord/slumlord.

sounds interesting though, if nothing else, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

I would think there is, or should be, a way to do it on the phone or online but I have not found a way yet. Has anyone been able to call to cancel? One of the richest countries in the world and they don't have internet or phone in capabilities!

If this with direct Qatari then is little difficult, if this with Middle man then easy.

For Qatari bring new tenat which agree to take your accommodation on the Qatari terms and condition

For middle man show him your termination request and settle the termination . First option will also serve for both condition very well. Good luck
