Linksys WAG325N qtel problem

Just found out that my internet was upgraded from 2mbps to 4mbps. But when I check my connection speed on my router settings page it says my download speed is the same 1800-2000kbps. My upload went up from 356kbps to 683kbps though. So I called Qtel customer services and they were no help at all. One agent told me to go use the old Speedtouch modem and the other told me to wait till they upgrade my connection from 2mbps to 4mbps XD. So I figured myself that its probably a problem with my router, seeing as the upload is updated but my download is still the same. Tried tinkering with my router settings abit to no avail. So posting here hoping to find someone who knows a how/what settings on the router I should use to get my actual download speed. Heres my current setup:

Encapsulation: RFC 2516 PPPoE
Multiplexing: LLC
QoS Type: UBR
PCR Rate: -
SCR Rate: -
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
DSL Modulation: Multimode
MTU: Manual
Size: 1465
DHCP Server: Enable

Heya ;>

I had the exact same problem as you, when the net upgrade came out, i checked my speed and it was still stuck on 512. I tried over and over, but it didn't budge ;/

However, I finally got it fixed. Please note I dunno if this procedure will work for you, but I'm here to help

I have the exact same router as you do.

Go to your linksys homepage (192.168.1.1) then click on administration, then "Restore to factory settings"

Once this is done, make sure you have your CD that came with the router, otherwise download the software

Load the CD and do the steps from there

What I saw was my connection went from PPPoE to PPPoA, I'm not really familiar with those settings but it did all automatically, I checked, and my net speed doubled ;D

Hope this helps =]

try to reset your router, then configure again the same settings....

or try to buy new Router

My advise .... When buying a new router look for a firewall throughput spec. It's it's under 30Mbps or not listed at all, don't buy it

check your internet speed...

Try this settings and let me know if it made a difference, Be sure to hard reboot the router by switching it off and on.

Encapsulation: PPPoA

Encapsulation mode: VC/MUX

MTU: 1500

My speed was 2500Kbps down and 350Kbps up, and now it's showing the same download speed and upload speed increased to 638Kbps ? WTH

I'm using Linksys WAG200G and tried restarting several times and doing a hard reset which was recommended by a Qtel rep, nothing worked.

We have 3 2Mbps subscriptions in our house hold and none of them got upgraded, although Qtel tech support checked and told me I'm on a 4Mbps subscription so I don't know.

I think they didn't do the upgrade in my neighborhood, where do you live pohl ? I'm in Algharrafa.

To the people that say they're getting (4Mbps) : What router are you guys using, and what area are you in ?

Reduce the MTU to 1400 only.
