A small group of people produce hand painted vases and pictures like in these pictures - does anyone think there is a market for this type of thing in Qatar?

someonenew, you know, i was told there is no bad or good art..

whatever emanates from an artist IS art apparently..

hence the celebrated "merde d'artiste"

enjoy art in moderation!

Tallg I didnt mean that the art was bad, if you read my post(again), I agreed that I did not know about art and wanted to learn. Just thought that was easy, just did not understand it. Okay? My apologies if it came across and u made it sound(meanie).

I have put a lot of thought into this now that I am no longer King of Gin. How about becoming the biggest Muppet that Qatar has to offer! Fadi off Qatar Radio! Nah, he bores the ass off me big time and he's far too much of a drip for me to cope with. Hey ho - back to the drawing board!

By Scarlett• 16 Oct 2008 14:32

ok I need to stop reading so fast! In one of your posts I thought you said it was the 2008 Constipation Award...ohh better get my glasses back on!

I like the first panels and the buildings/vases. I'm with Gypsy...find a venue to display...everyone has a different taste and I'm sure you'll find many that really do appreciate the work! I personally find some of the art in the art stores ugly but then again...different taste for different folks.

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

I can lambast you if you want, marhab. Not sure if I could do it with panache, though :-?

Nope, marhabtain, no suggestions... surprise us! Just don't lose that biting wit. Your observations are spot on. Some people just can't handle the truth, I guess.

Yes I have finally put the gin bottle away and returned my Gordons gin 2009 Consuption Award but thanks for your remarks as I did hope that it would amuse some people. Unfortunately some of the uneducated Muppet set found it offensive - moi! I need to assume another guise - any suggestions? ( Dont be rude okay lol )

Aw, marhabtain, all that gin-drinkin' wasn't for real?? Who knew? :-)

Actually what I always loved was the "land of understated beauty", etc...been missing that.

ANYway....you should rent a table at the AWA bazaar on Nov. 8, although I'm not sure if there are still any available. www.awaqatar.com for more info.

It's the biggest draw in town.

I like the paintings with the buildings, btw

Guys - art is art. You may not like it, but it's still art. I don't particularly like Monet paintings, but I can still appreciate that they're art and that the artist put a lot of time and effort into them.

To say that something isn't art, or that your child could produce better, or that it looks easy to do, shows a distinct lack of understanding. Try to offer informed, constructive opinions rather than just insulting ones.

I am so delighted that u liked the first one - I do the abstract so it was done by ME!!!!!!! I may have to evaluate my abstracts though as if a moron likles it maybe I am getting it wrong. The rest were done by an adult filipinno - not a child like u obviously are! Up yours mate!

i didnt believe it either... i know it's just a front .. i just played along as it's funny and nice alternative from the usual bickering here... :P

Looks good...depends on where its placed.

I would have preferred the vase painting to be on a mug or something people would use more frequently and more in the face of a visitor/guest.

You r probably one of the most astute on QL along with Alexa and scarlett who knew that the image was a put up job! I think that the - Yippee, Yippeee, its GORDONS gin for me!

WINNER Gordons Gin Personal Consumption Award 2008 Hic! - is surely an indication! I actually dont drink much and certainly never gin lol! but its all been such fun! The Jingly Bollywood lot are soooooo easy to piss off!
