Marriage requirments
I am christian and i have a Muslim( non-Qatari) BF, with different nationality. we are planning to get married here in Doha, but the issues which are not clear so far was the marriage requirements and the procedure. Does anyone knows the marriage requirements and the documents that we need? is there a civil wedding here in Doha? what are the procedure to legalized the marriage?
before you both get married, you need to show a 'no objection' certificate from your respective embassies which is to prove that you both are not married already.
once, thats done, a muslim boy can marry a christian girl in a court here but not the otherway round.
so, you shouldn't have much of a problem getting married. one of my indian muslim friends got married to a philippina just 6 months back here. he is my colleague in the same company.
Don't give up your religion for christ sake. Find another man
first of all, most in this situation return to the Phillipines and marry there.
Second, as ex.ex.expat says You LOSE ALL RIGHTS to your children if you divorce or even if your husband dies. So if your in-laws don't like you they are free to take your children away from you. Google Rebecca/Adam Jones and read their story.
ALLAH SWT says in the Holy Qur'an "do not marry a mushrik untill they embrace Islam,a MU'MIIN is better than a MUSHRIK even if you like them"
No,you cannot a muslim guy untill you embrace Islam.
Irfan, you are wrong,it is not 'preferable',it is a requirement that both should be muslims in order to get married. This is the Islamic point of view.
A Muslim boy can marry a cristian /jew(ahle kitab) girl but the condition is she should have the aqida to believe in one god, but it is preferable that she convert to islam but boy cant force her to change the religion (la iqra hi fideen).
this has been discussed numerous times. However, I am not sure that it is easy for a Filipina to marry in the court here so go ask your embassy. Have you thought about the fact that if you marry a muslim man and there are ever problems leading to divorce, your rights over your children will be limited. I would encourage you to research this one.
To my knowledge, if the boys is a Muslim, you'd have to convert to Islam, or alternatively boy would have to show himself as a Christian..
