Dear All;

I was once working in Qatar until I was terminated by my employer while on vacation in Manila

The problem is this, I have HUGE salary loan from QNB and can't repay until I get a good paying job again overseas particularly in Middle East.

I emailed QNB as to what happened to me and promised them that I will repay them as soon as I get a job again but did not received any reply.

My friends told me never to come back anymore in Qatar or anywhere in GCC coz definitely police will pick-me-up and throw me in jail.  Coz for sure, QNB have blacklisted me already in Qatar or in any where in GCC.  Is this true? They can blacklist me anywhere in GCC? That they can throw me in Jail anywhere in GCC because of this bayment payment default?

I have an offer now in GCC and its a good paying job but Im afraid of this being jailed possibility.

Can anyone help me out???

Really need legal opinion / advise urgently.

Thank you.

Assuming you are coming to back to Doha with a valid Visa, you will have no problem entering Qatar but the problem will arise when YOU WILL EXIT DOHA.

Your details (from passport/ QID) will be in the immigration watch list for hold departure once the bank has filed a case against you.

When you arrive here and found a job better check with the bank for your repayment and if the bank has not filed a case against you yet and there is no hold departure on you then you can still exit doha.

If you will work back here in Qatar sure they can trace you but in other GCC country they can't.  My friends did that already and till now they're working in Abu Dhabi.

Or another option is to call QNB, send a promissory note or talk to someone in QNB in Legal Dept, sure they can help you...

Hello to all of you...

My last company did sign my salary certification but without being a guarantee as my guarantor.  I know it is illegal for my last company to terminate me while on vacation and without reason but I choose not to blacklist them in Manila coz I dont want any more trouble.  I just want to get back to my feet again and fulfil my obligation - to my family and to the people I owe.

My company is just too stupid to do that to me... first without any valid and legal reason at all and second without checking my bank records before terminating me... Im sure they are the one's being blamed now by the bank and I guess such embarrasment is enough penalty for their stupidity.

Anyways going back to my case.... do you really think changing passport will enable me to work back in GCC.... im sure they can trace me thru my fingerprint records or thru my mobile number when Im back in GCC and call them for me to settle everything... I just dont want hassles thats why I dont want them to know where I am, but for sure I want to settle my loan.... Anymore advise I can here from you guys....?????

Thank you.

i have collegue in my previous company, he was the guarantor of his friend in the same company with us. The guy was terminated and till this day, he and the other guarantor are still paying for the remaining debts of their friend who took personal loan at QNB Another collegue was also terminated and must leave Qatar within a week, he had loan at CBQ but no guarantor, so he left without hassles.

Maybe it depends with company to company policy. Ours, do not interfere with their employees bank loan. Usually, the bank these days are asking for an endorsement, i forgot what they call it like recommendation letter from the company which states that they are aware that this certain employee is applying for personal loan in their bank. So anytime they terminate him, the company is obliged to inform the bank. And the bank could do the necessary action.

It is true that if u were to come back to Qatar they will put you in jail. Recommend that first u change ur Passport number and join anyother GCC country.

Apple, the gurantor do not have to play the loan back as they would be covered under an insurance policy which will pay the loan back to the bank. It is highly possible the gurantor is the company itself. But i am suprised that they did not check if u have a loan and stuff.

don't come here, they will tell u its okay but put you in jail after that, they don't care what your intension are, good or bad...

I am saying this because i know someone with a similar situation.

How did your company terminated you while on vacation? I mean, that supposedly be illegal as per labor law?

Also to my knowledge, QNB won't grant you a personal loan without 2 guarantors within the same bank. So, your guarantors must be paying your remaining debts in your behalf after you left your job. If there's someone to complain against you and put you in the blacklist, that must be your guarantors.

Try to get a new job with good offer and pay off your bank loan, either to your guarantors or to the bank. I dont think they will put you in jail when you're coming back for work and promise to payback your debts, better than running away from it. Good luck!

unfortunately...best of luck in whatever you decide to do...and you have the right idea with paying off the loan..many people don't and just don't return to Qatar..

it seems you can not post this on the Filipino Expatriate Group, well definitely you've been blacklisted already, and the immigration is already alerted. why not trying to contact them (no thru emails but talk to them over the phone), since your intention is good and will be paying them.
