i agree with azee, trend micro or bit defender is way way far better than windows firewall :)

Yea, Mozilla is working now, i thing it repaired itself on its own, or windows did it...dunno. Kept it turned on and when i got home from work this afternoon, it decided to work again.... weird ... but it works

I felt like such a chump!   I had already turned off windows firewall and also the updates having read LOADS of stuff about the error messages I had been getting.

Then, low and behold, I found where the McAfee Firewall was and VOILA!

SORTED!!

grrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm no geek, but I've had probs for almost 3 months with similar.

Go to your security firewall and lower it to tollerant.

I couldn't believe that solved all my probs, but it has .....

I had ieframe.dll messages, I had "Firefox has stopped working, so to annoy you even more, Windows will close this program" stuff.

I restored backwards and even FOREWARDS sometimes lol

I uninstalled and reinstalled IE7 more times than I've had sex! (just a sort of example of my frustration folks)

I uninstalled MSN and reinstalled

I uninstalled IE altogether!!!!!

I tore my hair out

I tore my HUSBAND'S hair out

then ... 3 days ago, I went into my McAfee security account and did what some IT bloke said the problem was 3 months ago ... I lowered the firewall.

My world has now changed :D

thanks azee , now we should teach those tech support from mozilla hehehehe. coz' by the time i started using firefox, i've never touched IE again :)

jinx, i've googled up your problem and guess what, there are vista users experiencing your problem as well. and it seems mozilla still don't have an answer yet :( so better use IE until they have solved your problem

My dear jinkzzz.. have you heard of Linux ?

If yes, just give it a try.

You can enjoy a more stable and fast laptop/pc without upgrading even a single piece of hardware on your existing "Vista Ultimate" system.

And feel free to contact me for any assistance with the installation/usage of this wonderful OS.

Now, the answer for the problem which you re experiencing with firefox,

Mozilla Firefox  is an open-source package, which is primarily designed for unix / linux related Operating systems.

Windows version of firefox still have some compatibility / run-time issues which can be only fixed with a re-install / upgrade of your existing firefox browser. Get the latest version, where most of the bugs will be sorted out.

But I believe that the problems which you are experiencing with firefox is much less compared to that with IE. ( internet explorer )
