Need help on terminate housing contract

By Qrata

After 6 months I have resigned from a senior position and I can not stay any longer in Qatar. The problem I have is the housing contract, it says that I have to rent for 12 months until I can terminate with 3 months given notice. Is there a Qatar Law that prevents this contracts since myself and family will not even stay in the country? I can not pay the rent for 7 more months!

any recommendations?

Thanks for advice...

If you are staying in the country, there is a problem.

If you are leaving Qatar, it's fine. Just take all the money from your bank account, get on a plane, and leave.

There's nothing the real estate agent can do.

Just be sure that you don't intend to return to Qatar!

I think if you leave Qatar and your RP is cancelled then there is something in the law which makes makes yout rental agreement no longer valid. This is what I have heard from our housing dept and from a couple of agents.

is to try and find someone to take on the lease yourself.

Did you Google it first?

Talk to the landlord directly. If he/she can find a replacement tenant then there should be no problem cancelling your contract.
