Newton Internat'l School Lagoon is one of four campuses. The Lagoon campus is the only one that is purpose-built, meaning that it was built to fulfill the purposes of the school. The D-ring and West Bay campuses were originally villas or large mansions. The owners are Qatari, husband and wife are doctors, and built the school to provide a Britih education for an international community.
The campus is very nice, the teachers are very good and the day runs quite smoothly for all my kids (I have four that attend the lagoon campus). As far as I have seen since the opening of the school last year, the primary is in good hands.
The secondary wing has a good principal. But the general trend of any international school is that the children who speak fluent English are usually pulled out and sent to more established schools like American School or Doha College. The teachers are usually left with Qatari, Arab or other foreign students whose English isn't as good (in comparison to fluent English speakers) so the standard of education naturally drops. But this is a trend not just with Newton but with other schools as well.
