Do the madina khalifa captain will lower the fine.i also dont know arabic, so i dont know how i will convince the captain. So please tell me which way to proceed...

There is no point of traffic laws if they are not enforced..

By GodFather.• 15 Jan 2013 09:55
GodFather.

Tahsinmim,

QDCL has a case. Glad the guy got his fine reduced, but lets not forget his violation, he did not get QR6000 for nothing, he violated traffic rules and got fine for it.

I personally think it is wrong for the Traffic Authorities to reduce fines, better they review and impose the fines and ensure that no violation is committed.

I don't think religion has anything to do with it.

The simple fact is that "people" are unwilling to take responsibility for their actions and the authorities allow them to get away with things.

I guess so, as OBL said, westerners embrace life as we embrace death. If dying on the roads gets them to Allah faster good for all of us, just don't take me with you as I still have lots of beers I want to drink.

By anonymous• 15 Jan 2013 08:29

Really? It is over? Listening to the radio this morning over 100 people died on the roads in the last 12 months and you believe justice should be negotiable. You believe the life of other humans can be negotiated down because of dangerous and reckless driving? I hope your family dies in a car accident and the person that caused it gets the fine reduced because they are poor. When that happens please don't come on here asking for justice for your family.

Yeah mate, he's a lovely guy. He got upset with me once when he was caught driving the wrong way and 200km in Brisbane and find 5000 dollars. He couldn't understand why I couldn't get the fine reduced to 10 dollars and buying all the cops a beer. He said we had a crazy system of applying the same rules to all regardless.

Me: yeah I did murder that person but I didn't really mean to do it. Can you reduce my prison sentence from life to say a year.

I'm sickened by the attitude of the police. I man commits a dangerous offence and they reduce his fine. What sort of deterrent is that. Next they will be in the newspapers running safety campaigns while allowing dangerous idiots like this to get a slap on the wrist. There is no hope for a safer driving culture in Qatar.

He only had 2 violations in Saudi Arabia during his 4 years there! And that filtering was recently implicated there!

And FYI he is very fussy with spectacles he has armani fit by Magrabi and we don't claim benefits from NHS! So what is there to worry?

Driving is Saudi is not that easy its very stressful and a total chaos! even if they allow the women soon ( as they are petitioning it for years and years! ) I will never drive there! Stupid drivers everywhere! from far right nearer the traffic light they will take a left turn and vice versa!

NO PROPER TRAFFIC REGULATION KNOWLEDGE AT ALL!!!

Even some foreigners are learning to blend in as they said if you can't beat them! join them!

By britexpat• 2 Jan 2013 07:10

In Saudi beating red light is SR500 and speeding fine is SR300 we just visited our friend in Al Khobar so hubby misinterpret the filter to the right, he should have stop first then filter to the right but as the light turned red he filtered to the right immediately so there was a flashed and he did not believe me it was us after 3 days it was on his bill! :( SR500!

6000 is for passing the red traffic light ,

i think if you go there and ask for the photo and they could not find it then they would revise the violation.

I might be wrong . but as I said the highest fin is 6000 for passing the RED light

good luck

I'm getting confused now..

is it Captain Khalifa from madinat abdullah or

Captain Abdullah from Madinat Khalifa ?

He said on some of his statement

"On 31/12/2012 6000 riyals fine came in the system, i went to the same captain, but he said he is helpless and he told may be the madinat khalifa captain can do something.Am really confused what to do as i got another job in dubai and i have to join next month. My company told me to pay fines."

He was even told that Madinat Khalifa Captain can do something for him! which is the Captain I am referring to! He is the one who will justify the case if he is used to disobeying the traffic law or not!

And you think if you quote this to the Ministers they will acknowledge you as a hero??? I doubt it! they will just put you on the list of "NOSEY" then when you faced trouble yourself they will ensure you faced the consequences you are talking about in this thread! Go ahead and exposed yourself! but don't tell me I didn't warned you!

By anonymous• 1 Jan 2013 18:45

Drink driving while be heavily punished as well. I'm going to start my complaint to the minister by mentioning the lienency of Wakra police. The dangerous driving has to stop and I will quote this thread on QL as an example. This man has to pay his fine, tough if it is difficult for him he should have thought of the before committing the crime.

By jjh• 1 Jan 2013 18:34

Thanks for the kind words! I already PM him what to do! Sometimes people are asking help because they need serious help! Perhaps he doesn't have the money and he work abroad to bring money home for his family! I may not be rich but I love to help people if I could! God has given me enough good vibes in life as I have a great family! I feel guilty if I knew someone needed help and I did not even try do something! Capt Abdullah has a good heart to everyone who try to reach for his help! Insha'Allah he is the answer to his problem! Al Hamduli'Allah!

By anonymous• 1 Jan 2013 18:14

I'm going to write to the ministry of the interior to complain that the police are not following the rules of Qatar and are reducing fines in appeal. This is unacceptable. You break the rules, you get punished. Everyone here complains about the driving standard here but when someone commits a very serious violation they have all this sympathy for them. Lets hope your kids don't die because of one of these poor idiots.

If you haven't done it before, they are likely to help you as they can see it on their records if it is a mistake, a habit or stubborness! following the traffic rules is a must of course! but QR6000 is not a joke! good luck!

You should pay and suffer, you could have killed someone, you could have killed a child. If you had killed someone's child through your dangerous and irresponsible driving that parent would be asking for the death penalty. In that context, 6000 is very little to pay

Driving in wrong direction,,,I have seen it many times,,,even it happened yesterday, I was driving on normal speed mentioned for the road but somehow a land cruiser could not tolerate my law abiding speed n decided to drive in the opposite direction road. I was not surprised bcz it is very common in qatar but I guess few people get fined for committing such violations.

but one thing is sure for me roads in qatar are very confusing splitting into many after every 2 minutes drive :( and I hate these round abouts,,,traffic signals are a much better choice.

He is British who has been working and living in Middle East for many years such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi before entering Qatar and has Driving License from any part of the Middle East so he doesn't need a wasta! he met Capt. Abdullah when he was in the queue processing the exchange of his license from Saudi, then they chatted. After couple of months driving he don't know there are lots of radar in Qatar within a couple of months he has couple of violations and so he approached him and ask if there's a way to reduced the fine and so he took him to the traffic department fine booth and voila! violations has been reduced to QR300 each! :) It helps to know someone who speaks English so you can explain your scenario! :)

Molten Metal, The Traffic laws and fines are posted on the MOI website, there was a big campaign a few years ago when these new fines came into place.

Yes the fines might be too much in your eyes, but in the eyes of the law that is what the authorities and the Ministry of Interior has approved.

By Molten Metal• 1 Jan 2013 09:56
Molten Metal

I strongly wish the fine should be equal to the violators's salary [ if not working then Family head's salary ] calculated for the minutes / time period of the violation.

To say if he / she drives in 'no entry' for about one minute , then fine should be equal to his / her one minutes earnings ..

This way the violators' dependents won't suffer .. economically.

My friend's husband was also fined for QR6,000, though different violation, beating the red light somewhere in C Ring Road. Both husband and wife went to the Captain in Madina Khalifa and plead the Captain to reconsider the penalty. And checking on the husband's record as he did not often have traffic violation, his fine was reduced to QAR300.

You can give a try to talk with the Captain. Consideration is on case to case basis for sure.

So pay up the fine, no money..no problem...borrow from friends...In Qatar no begging and no stealing...otherwise again more fine.
