ONE EYE BLIND

coolits
By coolits

i am planning to enroll for a driving lesson but my one eye is blind, so only one eye is 20/20 clear vision.

Is there any possibility that i could be able to get a clearance from eye clinic...

Please advise...

fair rules of MOI..

a single eyed discipline driver cause less danger than a two eyed arrogant driver..

its confirned that anyone with only one eye can get a Licence in Qatar. but the condition is that your one eye should have a minimmum of 9/6 vision, irrespective of you being completely blind in the other eye.

i have got it for my father who suffers from same problem so this is a confirmed statement.

I have checked MOI rules and as far as someone has good vision in one eye, he or she qualifies for a driving license.

you are wrong "nomercy". I lived in the U.K for a year and a half, and "one eye" drivers are allowed there... Please update your knowledge :-)

In Europe you are allowed to drive with one eye in special circumstances.

We are discussing about passing the eye test for DL. not what is the definition of binocular depth :)

Have you thought of glasses?

Lucky:

"Since (by definition), binocular depth perception requires two functioning eyes, a person with only one functioning eye has no binocular depth perception."

Fact!

well, with how people drive here, it should not make a difference.

I know for sure that in Europe you would not be allowed to drive .

I absolutely second what "aroop" say. some people comment here without knowing the ground realities

Ken Lee - Ha Ha ha ha 1.6 million people in danger :)

There is ABSOLUTELY no problem in getting a driving license for "one eyed" drivers. All what is needed is a good vision in "One Eye". I would recommend you to go to the Traffic Departmemt in Madina Khalifa and get your eyetest done there. Just let them know that you can see perfectly in one eye only. Or you can go to any licensed optition, and get your eye test confidently.

You don't even need to go to any doctor for any adjustments at all!!!

I am 100% sure of what I am saying, so please do not worry :-)

"With only one eye you will have no depth perception, so you should not be driving."

wrong. You will get adjusted to the depth in a short period of time - according to Dr. Mustaffa (eye Surgeon - HMC specialist unit)

ok Guys thanks for all you comments.

I got it from my past illness.. it is not totally blind, but partially blind, can see things but not totally clear...

So my Visions are 1 eye = 20/20 - clear vision & the other eye = counting fingers/can see BIg things, can read Big Bold Letters... That's the exact case Guys...

Thanks...

Please do not drive bcoz it will cause danger to 1.6million population in Qatar, please think about their family, beloved and their kids, etc if you drove...Let drive after you cure your eye!

Sorry , but you had me creased up picturing you at the eye test with one hand over the eye , reading the board :o)

Seriously, I think Baldrick is right. Due to safety issues, you should consider not going for a license..

Driving depends a lot on peripheral vision which will be a problem for you. It's better to keep yourself safe by not opting to drive.

With only one eye you will have no depth perception, so you should not be driving.
