Fine for ILLEGALLY employing a househelp who is not under your sponsorship can go up to 50,000 Riyals so better think again!

its so easy to blame the maid and normally thats the easiest way to put the blame on somebody else and i suppose lots of employers do that out here. I suppose you are to blame rather then the maid for keeping money or for that matter any valuables in sight of persons you dont even know or trust. Now the maid is going to have a difficult time with the authorities for something she may not have done.

To file a complaint against her in the police might just put you into trouble, since she is rendering household services to you but not under your sponsorship.

It is always safe to hire housemaids legally. However for those who are not willing to sponsor one for whatever reason, I agree with COLT45, we would rather consider doing household chores as beneficial to our health.

hk, do you have a copy of her rp, if she is a legitimate sponsored person and not a runaway?do you know which company she works for, or the name of the sponsor. if she has really stolen from you, she might just stop working for you after a few days, if not immediately.if you dont have any identification of hers, there is no way of tracking her, other than giving her name to the police. do you know her full name, her adress here.

you can still file a complaint, take her with you, if you are a hundred percent sure that she has stolen it, and see how it goes.for all you know, the police might say that they cant get your money back and will give you a stern warning agaisnt employing part time maids.But since a complaint is lodged, she will be on their suspected offenders list. she will be careful repeating this again, because next time she wont be lucky.

by the way, you kept lots of money in the cupboard and forgot to lock it, its not a reason to hate this place.

evidence like only we both were in the house at tht time nd tht very morning i had kept the money so tht i dont forget to giv it to my husband so tht he is able to transfer to india in the evening.i was a bit busy with the kids in the meantime she flicked it frm the cupboard coz like a fool i had not locked it as i was just around.

May be your husband took it and didn't tell you about it. How can you blame the maid without any proof? In the end it all comes down to the poor maids...

well that also ur mistake why u not ask her to check her things before she left that is ur right so that u have evidence and u have the right to complain to police. and we all know that hiring an illegal maid is illegal right? hard to complain without valid proof u know that....... take your own risk....... careful next time...

If you raise a complaint with the police, sure they would take action but it also serves as a confession from you indicating that you've been hiring an illegal worker. Beware!

Unbeleivable issues! Keeping a part time maid which is illegal. Keeping huge amount at home openly when a stranger on whom you have no control is there alone. Are you guys so foolish.

my mistake totally but gave u people the reason too. learnt a lesson.hard earned money inshallah god will give it back to me by other means if not frm the maid.if only i had some contacts in the police. lol

Why do you keep so money at home in the first place. You keep the money in the Back and take out what you need rather than leave it lying around.

If you have firm evidence then go to the Police.

too big amount doesnt have to be thousands. hard earned money even little means a lot.also it was some payment tht had to be sent to india via western union for medical treatment for family members.i have threathened her of police but she seems to be least bothered maybe she knws tht i cant complain. never knew tht phillipine maids can cause so much trouble.again the issue of police troubling me in the bargain also is a problem. seems tht i just cant do nything. feeling so helpless nd depressed

If this is the case and you don't know her sponsor you have to live with your pain better than being draged to a bigger problem.

My longtime Bangladeshi houseboy did the same thing at some Lebanese house and they complained.It is not legal to hire somebody but still u can complaint.It is ur right.

why I m advising u becoz now after complaining to police my houseboy got freed and u wont trust me that my houseboy is wearing Zara shirts with proud.he uses expensive perfumes.

dont pay her wages anymore,kick her out and tell the person through whom u hired her that now CID is keeping watch on her.Frighten her to death so that she wont be able to do anything again...

You're out of luck - it is illegal to employ a maid not under your sponsorship, if you report her, the police may act against you too.

Of course you can file a complaint but be ready for you may be penalized also for hiring the services of someone not under your sponsorship.

i have a friend with the same situation. they are blaming their maid of stealing money without any evidence at all.. to the extent that the indonesian maid was almost sent back to her country. Later they found out that their 11-year old son did that..
